Megyn Kelly blasted Emily Ratajkowski\u2019s graphic essay<\/a> about her post-divorce sex life as a harmful example for young women, accusing New York Magazine\u2019s The Cut of glorifying promiscuity under the guise of female empowerment.<\/p>\n

\u201cShame on The Cut for running this,\u201d Kelly said during Wednesday\u2019s episode of SiriusXM\u2019s \u201cThe Megyn Kelly Show,\u201d denouncing Ratajkowski for \u201cbecoming a slut\u201d as \u201ckind of a soothing balm, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Fox News primetime host was reacting to Ratajkowski\u2019s essay, \u201cMother F\u2013ker,\u201d published Friday by The Cut<\/a>, in which the model and actress details her life as a newly single mother after the collapse of her marriage.<\/p>\n

In the piece, Ratajkowski describes embarking on a period of compulsive dating following her separation, writing that she was trying to figure out \u201cwhat kind of woman\u201d she wanted to become.<\/p>\n

Kelly took particular issue with the article\u2019s graphic descriptions of childbirth and motherhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe became the thing she never wanted to be, which was a single mother,\u201d Kelly said while summarizing the essay.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think most women remember some pain around the birth, but when you ask them about the birth, they might say, \u2018Oh yeah, I was in a lot of pain,\u2019 but then the very, very next thing they\u2019d say is how wonderful the baby is, and what it\u2019s like to become a mother, and the miracle of that first moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not really how she describes it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ratajkowski, 35, rose to fame as a model before becoming an actress, author and social media personality with nearly 30 million Instagram followers.<\/p>\n

The essay chronicles her divorce and subsequent dating experiences while raising her young son.<\/p>\n

In one of the article\u2019s most provocative passages, Ratajkowski writes: \u201cI decided to f\u2013k my way into a new kind of woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to destroy the Madonna, the special girl I\u2019d worked so hard to be before an eight-pound baby had torn my vagina in two, and replace her with the whore,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Kelly seized on the language.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo she talks now about how she\u2019s become a slut, really, that\u2019s what she\u2019s decided to do,\u201d Kelly said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe never had a one-night stand prior to her separation, but now she wants to be a whore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emily Ratajkowski was married to film producer Sebastian Bear-McClard. They separated and filed for divorce in 2022. emrata\/Instagram<\/p>\n

The article describes a series of post-divorce sexual encounters and Ratajkowski\u2019s efforts to reinvent herself after the breakup.<\/p>\n

She writes that before separating from her husband, she had \u201cnever had a one-night stand\u201d and had only slept with eight people.<\/p>\n

The essay also recounts nights spent drinking martinis, casual sexual relationships and returning home before her son woke up each morning.<\/p>\n

Kelly argued that the article attempts to frame the behavior as empowering.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess we\u2019re supposed to celebrate this as an example of female empowerment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The SiriusXM host also criticized the essay\u2019s cover image, which depicts Ratajkowski posing topless while cradling what appears to be an infant.<\/p>\n

Kelly suggested the feature was less a serious meditation on motherhood than an exercise in provocation.<\/p>\n

The criticism grew sharper as Kelly questioned the message the article sends to younger readers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like the young girls who don\u2019t have Emily\u2019s followers on Instagram, or her money, or her name,\u201d Kelly said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly, some faction of them may be inspired by this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ratajkowski said she began \u201ccompulsively dating\u201d after becoming a single mother following the collapse of her marriage. Instagram\/emrata<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, \u2018Oh yeah, she seems much happier now, in her own words, becoming a whore. Maybe I should try it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelly also accused Ratajkowski of contradicting her past complaints about being sexually objectified.<\/p>\n

The model has previously spoken publicly about sexism, objectification and the pressures placed on women because of their appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the way, it\u2019s from the same woman who wrote a whole thing about how she hates being sexually objectified by men,\u201d Kelly said.<\/p>\n

The Cut essay has generated widespread online discussion since its publication, with supporters praising Ratajkowski\u2019s candor about divorce, dating and motherhood while critics have questioned its graphic content and underlying message.<\/p>\n

For Kelly, however, the issue was not merely the essay itself but the decision to publish it.<\/p>\n

\u201cShame on The Cut for running this,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
