{"id":876179,"date":"2026-06-18T15:55:19","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T15:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/876179\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T15:55:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T15:55:19","slug":"bbcs-world-cup-coverage-mistakenly-puts-mountain-range-in-houston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/876179\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC&#8217;s World Cup coverage mistakenly puts mountain range in Houston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When the BBC announced that it would be basing its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/world-cup\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">World Cup<\/a> coverage from a set in England instead of sending its studio hosts across the pond, the 103-year-old broadcasting company faced plenty of backlash for being penny-pinchers. To assuage those concerns, the BBC invited some journalists to come check out their studio before the tournament began.<\/p>\n<p>The invitation-only tour worked with some reporters raving about the setup in Salford, a city in Greater Manchester, England, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7345116\/2026\/06\/12\/bbc-world-cup-coverage\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">a piece in The Athletic<\/a> which called it \u201cclever\u201d that the studio featured a \u201cgiant wraparound LED screen\u201d that \u201cwill show a picture of a downtown scene from whichever host city that evening\u2019s\/mornings game is being played in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And now, we can\u2019t stop laughing.
