Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>She carved out an increased role <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/20\/sports\/jonquel-jones-liberty-return-timeline-emerging-after-latest-ankle-injury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">when an ankle injury sidelined Jonquel Jones<\/a>, and her best game of the year even occurred the night Jones returned. <\/p>\n<p>And after missing all of 2023 due to meniscus surgery and then struggling with the Chicago Sky in 2024, Harrison, finally, has settled into a rhythm with the Liberty over the past month \u2014 averaging 8.0 points across 14.6 minutes per game since June 27.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike, quite simply, this is like the best I\u2019ve felt since ever,\u201d Harrison said. \u201cI remember my Dallas [Wings] days were really great because I had like a really amazing team, but obviously those games were hard. We had some tough moments, but I just think right now, it\u2019s just like I\u2019m so happy where I am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to get emotional, but I\u2019m really, really blessed to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harrison\u2019s strides were evident Tuesday, when she shot 5-of-6 against the Fever and drew an and-one against Aliyah Boston late in the fourth quarter. <\/p>\n<p>She pinpointed the Liberty\u2019s lengthy road trip in June as a turning point, when she didn\u2019t play much the first two games (only 9:57 total), but then watched as her role on a contender grew. <\/p>\n<p>By the time the Liberty arrived back home, Harrison had a \u201cdifferent mindset\u201d from observing fueled by aggressiveness, and she survived another knee injury scare July 6 by only missing one game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to be that person to step in, in place for JJ,\u201d Harrison said.<\/p>\n<p>The next step, she said, will revolve around building on her individual momentum from before the All-Star break. <\/p>\n<p>Around ensuring she remains a dependable scoring option on the roles or drives that follow screens. <\/p>\n<p>Around continuing to play freely on the court after ditching the brace that \u201cwas holding me back in a way\u201d and proving to head coach Sandy Brondello \u2014 her coach as a rookie in Phoenix nine years ago, who Harrison said played a role in her current Liberty opportunity \u2014 that \u201cshe made a good decision\u201d to take a chance.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.44428773;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36626663\" width=\"852\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Liberty-HarrisonRebound.jpg\" alt=\"Isabelle Harrison of the New York Liberty goes for a rebound as Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever defends.\" class=\"wp-image-36626663\"  \/>Isabelle Harrison, who scored 13 points, goes after the rebound as Indiana\u2019s Sophie Cunningham looks on during the LIberty\u2019s home win over the Fever. And she\u2019s done it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her first minutes with the Liberty, Stephanie Talbot, a veteran forward who played for Brondello in Phoenix and with the Australian national team, went scoreless with three turnovers in just four minutes Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>She added an assist and a steal.<\/p>\n<p>After shootaround Tuesday, Talbot, who was waived by the Golden State Valkyries and signed with the Liberty this week, said she wants to \u201cdo those little things that in moments they\u2019ve been lacking.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Isabelle Harrison didn\u2019t hesitate.
