{"id":876548,"date":"2026-06-18T19:35:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T19:35:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/876548\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T19:35:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T19:35:16","slug":"fort-worth-police-announce-juneteenth-community-impact-plan-honoring-opal-lee-nbc-5-dallas-fort-worth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/876548\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Worth police announce Juneteenth Community Impact plan honoring Opal Lee \u2013 NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Fort Worth Police Department is holding a press conference to announce the \u201cJuneteenth Community Impact\u201d weekend initiative, a series of events focused on literacy, mentorship, second chances, youth engagement, and community healing through conversation, culture, and collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative will take place thanks to a partnership between Fort Worth PD and community leaders, civic organizations, and local stakeholders<\/p>\n<p>According to the Fort Worth Police Department, this year\u2019s initiative highlights the historic 100th birthday year of Opal Lee, whose lifelong advocacy was instrumental in the national recognition of Juneteenth. <\/p>\n<p>COMMUNITY CONVERSATION &amp; PRESS CONFERENCE <\/p>\n<p>Thursday, June 18 at 2:30 p.m. in the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex<\/p>\n<p>A leadership panel discussion and press conference will feature: <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia <\/li>\n<li>Fort Worth Fire Chief Raymond Hill <\/li>\n<li>Community leaders, youth advocates, and cultural representatives <\/li>\n<li>Isaac Keys \u2014 Actor, motivational speaker, and author of \u201cThe Grind Don\u2019t Stop\u2026 It Just Changes.\u201d Known for his message of discipline, resilience, reinvention, and personal growth through adversity and transformation. <\/li>\n<li>Twisted Black \u2014 Fort Worth recording artist, mentor, and advocate for second chances whose life experience and community work focus on accountability, redemption, and youth guidance. <\/li>\n<li>Kajanee Smith \u2014 Actress for the hit Netflix Show Beauty in Black. Community advocate, dancer, and mentor specializing in mental health awareness, youth empowerment, and healing through creative expression and the arts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The discussion will focus on mentorship, literacy, mental wellness, second chances, and strengthening relationships between public safety officials and the community.<\/p>\n<p>COMMUNITY CONVERSATION THEME &amp; PURPOSE<\/p>\n<p>Fort Worth police said this year\u2019s theme explores how adversity can be transformed into purpose, leadership, and legacy through lived experience, storytelling, and community engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Each participant represents resilience, transformation, and the power of positive influence across generations.<\/p>\n<p>COMMUNITY IMPACT PARTNER<\/p>\n<p>All Juneteenth Weekend events will support The HOPE Initiative, a Fort Worth nonprofit focused on youth development through education, mentorship, workforce readiness, and leadership training.<\/p>\n<p>KEY EVENTS <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>June 18 \u2014 2:30 PM: Community Press Conference &amp; Conversation (Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex) <\/li>\n<li>June 18 \u2014 6:00 PM: Isaac Keys Book Signing &amp; Conversation (The Dock Bookshop) <\/li>\n<li>June 19 \u2014 9:00 AM: Opal Lee\u2019s Walk for Freedom (3401 W.
