LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) \u2014 The National Weather Service confirmed Thursday afternoon that a preliminary EF1 tornado hit Scott and Jefferson counties in Indiana during overnight storms.<\/p>\n

The NWS said the tornado saw peak winds of 110 mph.<\/p>\n

Strong storms swept across Kentuckiana overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain and reports of tornadoes in several communities.<\/p>\n

The severe weather moved through the region late Wednesday into early Thursday. At least two radar-confirmed tornadoes hit parts of southern Indiana.<\/p>\n

One of the hardest-hit areas was Jackson County, Indiana, where reports of tornado damage emerged after storms moved through overnight. The NWS confirmed that the damage was “tornadic.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The NWS issued several watches and warnings\u00a0across portions of Kentucky and Indiana, including threats of possible tornados, damaging winds with gusts up to 75 mph, and isolated hail.<\/p>\n
