(ZSL via SWNS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Dean Murray<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seven <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2025\/08\/28\/camera-catches-cute-three-month-old-cheetah-cubs-playing-outside\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">endangered cheetah cubs<\/a> have been born at a UK zoo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First-time mom Amira gave birth to four cubs at Whipsnade Zoo on May 18, followed by her sibling Zara &#8211; who delivered a litter of three just five days later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bedfordshire attraction said the arrivals are a boost to the international conservation breeding program for their <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2024\/11\/20\/adorable-cheetah-cubs-seen-experiencing-snow-for-first-time\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">endangered subspecies<\/a>, the northern cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus soemmeringii).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sarah McGregor, section manager of the predators team, said: &#8220;We\u2019re absolutely delighted to have seven healthy cheetah cubs at the Zoo.<\/p>\n<p>                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAADCAQAAAAe\/WZNAAAAEElEQVR42mM8U88ABowYDABAxQPltt5zqAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" alt=\"image\" class=\"img-responsive lazyload full blur\" width=\"1914\" height=\"1083\" data- data-\/><\/p>\n<p>             <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/6a340186df896.image.png\" alt=\"\" aria-hidden=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"113\" width=\"200\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Cheetah mom Amira caring for her cubs. (ZSL via SWNS)<\/p>\n<p>                                    By Talker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Amira and Zara have taken to motherhood wonderfully, and we\u2019ve seen them nuzzling, cleaning, and feeding their cubs diligently over our CCTV cameras.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It\u2019s been 15 years since <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2022\/01\/20\/cheetah-cubs-play-with-baby-gazelle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cheetah cubs<\/a> were last born at Whipsnade, so these seven new additions are really something special.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;They\u2019re not only so important for the conservation breeding program, but represent a continuation of a long history of successfully breeding cheetahs at Whipsnade Zoo, in an incredibly special year for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to threats including habitat loss and fragmentation, the illegal pet trade, and human-animal conflict, more than 90% of the global cheetah population has disappeared since 1900.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are now estimated to be just 7,000 cheetahs in the wild, and fewer than 600 northern cheetahs, making every birth for this subspecies critical for their survival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McGregor added: &#8220;It\u2019s really significant to have these cubs in the year that ZSL celebrates its 200th birthday; a sign of our continued efforts to conserve threatened species and create a world where wildlife can thrive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAADCAQAAAAe\/WZNAAAAEElEQVR42mM8U88ABowYDABAxQPltt5zqAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" alt=\"image\" class=\"img-responsive lazyload full blur\" width=\"1914\" height=\"1083\" data- data-\/><\/p>\n<p>             <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/6a34018a0e461.image.png\" alt=\"\" aria-hidden=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"113\" width=\"200\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Cheetah mom Zara caring for her cubs.
