Ground stops are particularly disruptive in North Texas, given that DFW is the central hub of Fort Worth-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/american-airlines\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">American Airlines<\/a> and Love Field is the home base of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/southwest-airlines\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Southwest Airlines<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By the afternoon, ground stops at both major airports had been lifted, but the operational damage caused by early morning weather delays appeared to have taken hold. Nearly 400 flights had been canceled at DFW by 2:10 p.m., according to flight tracking site FlightAware. Love Field&#8217;s cancellations totaled 65, according to FlightAware.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both airports combined to amass more than 900 flight delays. <\/p>\n<p>While the worst of the weather appeared to have passed, DFW Airport was still under a departure delay that was averaging 30 minutes and increasing due to thunderstorms.
