Check out six trending stories from <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Community Impact\u2019s<\/a> Dallas-Fort Worth coverage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> <strong>Mark Hill wins race for Frisco mayor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Frisco residents elected Mark Hill as the next mayor during the June 13 runoff election.<\/p>\n<p>With all precincts reporting in Collin and Denton counties, Hill garnered a majority of the votes against Rod Vilhauer.<\/p>\n<p>Hill earned 19,632, of 58.12% over Vilhauer&#8217;s 14,146, or 41.88%<\/p>\n<p>The runoff follows the May 2 election where no one earned over 50% of the initial vote, which led to the top two vote getters to face off in June. On May 2, Hill received the most votes with 34.64%, and Vilhauer trailed with 31.42%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/frisco\/election\/2026\/06\/13\/final-mark-hill-wins-race-for-frisco-mayor\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read the full story from Editor Samantha Douty<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> <strong>New public transportation available in Frisco&#8217;s Rail District<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Frisco launched its new <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/frisco\/government\/2026\/04\/23\/public-transit-circulator-service-coming-to-downtown-frisco\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">transportation service<\/a> for the Rail District.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicles are called the Rail District Boxcar, and the service is free, according to a city news release. The first game at Dallas Stadium was June 14, with the Netherlands playing Japan.<\/p>\n<p>For soccer fans in Fort Worth, there are a few places hosting watch parties throughout the city, including a couple in north Fort Worth. Plano City Council approves $8.5M for traffic light vehicle detection upgrades<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Citywide traffic signal upgrades are coming to Plano after officials approved $8.5 million to go toward new vehicle detection systems at a meeting June 8.<\/p>\n<p>The new systems will be installed at 284 intersections across Plano for traffic signals to recognize when vehicles are stopped at an intersection.<\/p>\n<p>Detection systems help prevent unnecessary delays in traffic, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/plano.novusagenda.com\/agendapublic\/CoverSheet.aspx?ItemID=10741&amp;MeetingID=3694\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">city documents<\/a>.
