PHILADELPHIA \u2014 Freddy Peralta became Freddy Krueger on Saturday, mortifying anyone wearing a Mets uniform but scaring exactly nobody he faced.<\/p>\n
In this chapter of \u201cNightmare on Broad Street,\u201d Freddy and the Mets were dead by the third inning in a brutal 15-3 loss to the Phillies.<\/p>\n
Peralta, in his worst career performance, allowed 10 earned runs on 10 hits and one walk over 2 \u00b2\/\u2083 innings. The alleged Mets ace saw his ERA inflate to 4.83, even behind Sean Manaea (4.64) in this disappointing Mets rotation. David Peterson and his 5.91 ERA are headed to the mound for Sunday night\u2019s series finale.<\/p>\n
Kyle Schwarber blasted three homers (including two in one inning) and Bryce Harper hit for the cycle. The good news for the Mets is it counts as only one loss.<\/p>\n
But Peralta\u2019s woes can\u2019t be discounted. The right-hander was only two starts removed from allowing six earned runs in a loss to the Cardinals and he wasn\u2019t particularly sharp last Sunday, when he lasted only five innings against the Braves (three of the four runs he allowed in that start were unearned).<\/p>\n
\u201cI think I have been a little inconsistent,\u201d Peralta said. \u201cBut I have time to be better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simply, Peralta is entering \u201cbust\u201d territory after arriving in Queens last winter as the centerpiece of a trade that sent Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams to Milwaukee. The Mets also received Tobias Myers in the deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a guy, when you look at his track record, he\u2019s been one of the best pitchers in the game,\u201d manager Carlos Mendoza said. \u201cHe\u2019s going through a little bit of a rough stretch here, but if somebody is able to bounce back after bad outings, it\u2019s a guy like Freddy. He is a competitor. He is a guy that is going to come back the next day and look for ways to get better and improve. That is what we will do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mendoza noted that Peralta\u2019s velocity hasn\u2019t been an issue \u2014 with his fastball sitting in the 96 mph neighborhood \u2014 but the right-hander too often is working from behind in the count.<\/p>\n
Peralta got tagged early, allowing a two-out homer to Harper in the first that gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

J.T. Realmuto and Justin Crawford each delivered an RBI double in the second, extending the Phillies lead to 3-0. Alec Bohm\u2019s leadoff single to right \u2014 the Phillies won a replay reversal on a ball Eric Wagaman trapped \u2014 started the rally.<\/p>\n
Peralta never survived the third. Schwarber homered leading off the inning and another run scored when Marcus Semien threw away Brandon Marsh\u2019s grounder following Harper\u2019s double. Bryson Stott followed with a fly to left that landed behind Juan Soto at the base of the left field fence for an RBI double, widening the Mets deficit to 6-0.<\/p>\n
The Phillies weren\u2019t nearly finished in the inning. After Realmuto doubled in another run and Peralta recorded the second out, Crawford walked and Trea Turner\u2019s RBI single knocked out Peralta. Enter Cionel P\u00e9rez, who served up a blast to Schwarber that buried the Mets in an 11-0 hole. Schwarber became the fourth player in Phillies history with a two-homer inning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am just trying to come back and feel like myself and forget about the past,\u201d Peralta said. \u201cJust moving forward and trying to become who I really am and take it that way and just finish in that way to the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mark Vientos homered in the fourth to get the Mets on the scoreboard. The homer was Vientos\u2019 ninth this season.<\/p>\n
Harper\u2019s two-run triple in the fifth was his last piece to the cycle \u2013 he became the 10th player in franchise history to accomplish the feat.<\/p>\n
Carson Benge blasted a two-run homer in the seventh that brought the Mets to within 13-3.<\/p>\n

Myers surrendered a two-run homer to Schwarber in the seventh inning. The blast gave Schwarber a three-homer game for the fifth time in his career.<\/p>\n
Cristopher S\u00e1nchez allowed one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk over six innings. The left-hander (who had a scoreless streak of 50 \u00b2\/\u2083 innings this season) lowered his ERA to 1.80. This was his 23rd straight start in this ballpark allowing two earned runs or fewer.<\/p>\n
