{"id":882779,"date":"2026-06-21T13:26:24","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T13:26:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/882779\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T13:26:24","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T13:26:24","slug":"iran-cites-ben-gvirs-call-to-burn-all-of-lebanon-as-proof-of-israels-genocidal-intent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/882779\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran cites Ben Gvir&#8217;s call to &#8216;burn all of Lebanon&#8217; as proof of Israel&#8217;s &#8216;genocidal&#8217; intent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir\u2019s call \u201cto burn all of Lebanon\u201d has sparked international condemnation, with Iran latching on to the comment as proof that Israel is a \u201cgenocidal death cult\u201d that seeks \u201cconstant war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Israel there was silence from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar over the incendiary call, while former prime minister Naftali Bennett tried to allay criticism by dismissing the ultra-nationalist leader as a \u201cclown\u201d with no real impact on policy.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Gvir published his comments on X on Friday after the Israel Defense Forces announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/4-person-idf-tank-crew-including-battalion-chief-killed-by-hezbollah-in-south-lebanon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four soldiers were killed<\/a> in southern Lebanon, where the IDF is battling the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of Lebanon needs to burn!\u201d Ben Gvir had posted to his X feed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor every teardrop of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers need to cry,\u201d he wrote, and noted that he gave the same message to Netanyahu during meetings they held.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tGet The Times of Israel&#8217;s Daily Edition<br \/>\n\t\t\tby email and never miss our top stories\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tBy signing up, you agree to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/terms\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">terms<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur supreme duty is to protect Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers, and that duty comes before all other considerations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not up for bargaining. All of Lebanon must burn,\u201d Ben Gvir said.<\/p>\n<p>He continued that in the Middle East, wars are not won with \u201cmeasured and constrained\u201d responses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou go berserk. To obliterate. To crush the terror,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Gvir\u2019s call came as Israel and Hezbollah <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/israel-and-hezbollah-renew-ceasefire-after-flare-up-but-idf-to-stay-in-southern-lebanon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">agreed to a ceasefire<\/a> aimed at halting months of fighting that began when the terror group attacked northern Israel in support of Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Iran insisted that Lebanon be included in the truce reached between Tehran and Washington last week, but though an end to the fighting in Lebanon was mentioned in the memorandum of understanding, clashes continued in southern Lebanon, even after Friday\u2019s ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/idf-soldier-killed-13-injured-during-overnight-hezbollah-attack-in-southern-lebanon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">soldier was killed<\/a> and over a dozen were injured on Saturday. Dozens of Lebanese have reportedly been killed in Israeli strikes on Hezbollah over the past few days.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AP26171816263249.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3846783\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AP26171816263249-640x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tIranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, center, arrives at the Burgenstock resort in Obbuergen, near Lucerne, Switzerland, early on June 21, 2026. (Urs Flueeler\/Keystone, Pool via AP)<\/p>\n<p>Iran seized on Ben Gvir\u2019s remarks as proof of Israel\u2019s intentions in Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted a screenshot of Ben Gvir\u2019s post, tagged US President Donald Trump and US Vice President JD Vance, and accused Israel of wanting \u201cpermanent war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not a rant by a random genocidal lunatic. It\u2019s a public post by the national security minister of the Israeli regime. The genocidal death cult headquartered in Tel Aviv is a threat to all of humanity. It threatens all humans. Disgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPay no attention to Ben Gvir,\u201d Bennett wrote back. \u201cHe\u2019s a clown who represents neither Israel\u2019s values nor its actions. \u201cHe\u2019s just spewing nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a follow-up post, Bennett again called Ben Gvir a \u201cnoisy and incompetent clown\u201d and asserted that the minister \u201cdoesn\u2019t command the IDF.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2026\/06\/F260615AVS0015.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3843578\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/F260615AVS0015-640x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\t\u2018Together\u2019 party leader and former prime minister Naftali Bennett speaks during a press conference in Tel Aviv, June 15, 2026. (Avshalom Sassoni\/ Flash90)<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Vance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/vance-slams-israeli-freakout-over-iran-deal-says-trump-only-world-leader-who-still-likes-israel\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">criticized<\/a> Ben Gvir and fellow far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for their opposition to the MOU reached with Iran, accusing them of lacking appreciation for American support.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Vance arrived Sunday in Switzerland for what he has said will likely be a couple of days of talks on implementing the US-Iran agreement to end the war.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Gvir has repeatedly caused uproar with provocative actions. Last month, there was an international outcry after he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/ben-gvir-posts-video-of-himself-taunting-bound-and-detained-gaza-flotilla-activists\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">posted a video<\/a> showing him taunting and humiliating dozens of bound and kneeling flotilla activists that Israel had detained after intercepting their ship, which aimed to break the naval blockade on Gaza.
