This week on In Focus, Rochester State Assemblymember Harry Bronson discusses the Shield Act 2.0.<\/p>\n
Bronson explains how the Shield Act 2.0 expands protections for individuals and parents receiving gender-affirming care and authorizes the Attorney General’s office to intervene in civil cases. He highlights the Equal Rights Amendment, enshrining anti-discrimination measures in the New York State Constitution, and the Trans Safe Haven Act, its predecessor. Bronson also mentions $750,000 in HIV housing funding for Trillium Health and $250,000 for the Damien Center, benefiting about a third of the 3,000 HIV-positive, low-income individuals in New York. He reflects on the 15-year anniversary of marriage equality in New York.<\/p>\n
