Jaguars roster breakdown: Who’s a lock, on the bubble at defensive end<\/p>\n

With minicamp behind us, let’s break down the\u00a0Jacksonville Jaguars’<\/a>\u00a0roster through a different lens.<\/p>\n

In this series, we will be going position-by-position and placing each player into one of three categories — are they a lock to make the team, likely to make the team, or on the bubble and fighting for a role?<\/p>\n

What this exercise can do is help bring into focus how many roster spots are actually available this summer, along with highlighting who may be on the outside and looking in.<\/p>\n

Up next\u00a0are the defensive ends.<\/p>\n

Roster locks (3): Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker, Wesley Williams<\/p>\n

Hines-Allen and Walker will lead the way at defensive end, and with Williams being a fourth-round pick this past April, he will get his share of opportunities to make an impact. The Jaguars<\/a> are very bullish about the well-rounded skill set<\/a> he brings to the defensive end position.<\/p>\n

More than likely to make the team (3): Danny Striggow, BJ Green, Zach Durfee<\/p>\n

It’s possible that the Jaguars roster six defensive ends, and this is all a moot point. That said, going heavy at this position means going light elsewhere, and don’t forget that Dennis Gardeck can line up at defensive end as well. From a roster-building standpoint, there isn’t a need to have seven pass rushers on the roster. So that is why I do think it’s possible that one of these three doesn’t make the team.<\/p>\n

On the bubble (2): Quindarius Dunnigan, Bryan Thomas Jr.<\/p>\n

This is a crowded position group, which leaves Dunnigan and Thomas Jr. likely competing for a spot on the practice squad.<\/p>\n
