\n\tKanye<\/a> West (AKA Ye) pulled off a series of big L.A. concerts<\/a> in April, but may not have the same luck in Texas.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne day after tickets went on sale for the controversial hip-hop superstar\u2019s July 4 performance in San Antonio, that city\u2019s mayor said she supports \u201ccanceling the @kanyewest concert.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMayor Gina Ortiz Jones continued, \u201cMilitary City USA should not host someone with a record of hate speech and antisemitic comments in a city-funded facility like our Alamodome\u2014not ever, and certainly not on July 4th, our Nation\u2019s 250th birthday.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite the mayor\u2019s call, tickets are still available for the show on Ticketmaster and on West\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

\n\tJones is not alone in her opposition.<\/p>\n

\n\tAn upcoming show in Prague fell apart earlier this month when the venue pulled out. <\/p>\n

\n\tAn June performance in Poland was canceled last month due to \u201cformal and legal reasons,\u201d but the nation\u2019s Culture minister wrote of the decision, \u201cIn a country scarred by the history of the Holocaust, we cannot pretend that this is just entertainment. Artistic freedom does not mean giving a free pass to everything. Culture cannot be a space for those who exploit it to spread hatred.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA French festival was forced to postpone after local officials vowed to block the Grammy winner from performing. AFP said it had been told by sources close to the country\u2019s interior minister that he was looking at \u201call possibilities<\/a>\u201d to stop the concert. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe mayor of Marseille, Beno\u00eet Payan, had already declared his opposition to West\u2019s performance on social media in late March. \u201cI refuse to let Marseille be a showcase for those who promote hatred and unashamed Nazism,\u201d he said in part.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn April, the UK\u2019s home office banned the rapper from entering the country. As a result, the Wireless Festival there was canceled<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast year, he was denied a visa to enter Australia.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn January, Ye took out an ad in\u00a0the\u00a0Wall Street Journal\u00a0to plead for forgiveness after his antisemitic rampage in 2025. Ye\u00a0said he suffered<\/a>\u00a0a \u201cfour-month-long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life.\u201d During that period, Ye sold $20 shirts with swastikas and made numerous antisemitic posts including declaring himself to be a Nazi.<\/p>\n

\n\tTwo concerts he has scheduled later this month in Tampa have also elicited calls for cancellation.<\/p>\n
