{"id":883994,"date":"2026-06-22T03:08:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T03:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/883994\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T03:08:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T03:08:35","slug":"roscoe-wilson-reflects-on-fatherhood-aja-wilsons-determination-and-raising-a-champion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/883994\/","title":{"rendered":"Roscoe Wilson reflects on fatherhood, A\u2019ja Wilson\u2019s determination, and raising a champion"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p>LAS VEGAS \u2014 On Father\u2019s Day, Las Vegas Aces superstar A\u2019ja Wilson\u2019s father, Roscoe Wilson, spent the day doing what he values most: being with family.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <strong>Vegas Sports Today<\/strong>, Wilson reflected on fatherhood, watching his daughter\u2019s remarkable journey, and the lessons he believes every parent should embrace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m doing it right now,\u201d Wilson said with a smile when asked about his Father\u2019s Day plans. \u201cGot up, had breakfast, saw A\u2019ja. It\u2019s already started, and it\u2019s getting better and better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Wilson, Father\u2019s Day isn\u2019t about gifts or celebrations. It\u2019s about time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI take nothing for granted,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery Father\u2019s Day is very special because it\u2019s another time I have with my daughter. We could just be sitting around the house, and I\u2019m enjoying it. I just like being in her presence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Disney World Moment That Said Everything<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While A\u2019ja Wilson would go on to become a state champion, NCAA champion, Olympic gold medalist, WNBA MVP, and 3x WNBA champion, her father says he knew she was special long before the trophies arrived.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Roscoe Wilson shares a Father\u2019s Day story: The Disney World day A\u2019ja Wilson proved she was tough and special to her dad: <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The day we got to go to Disney World it was a monsoon. It was raining sheets and sheets of rain, and everybody said, &#8216;This is terrible.&#8217; And you know what\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fW1EyRVzZ2\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/fW1EyRVzZ2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Vegas Sports Today (@VegasSportsTD) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VegasSportsTD\/status\/2068841154427474154?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">June 21, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The moment came during a family trip to Disney World when A\u2019ja was just a young girl.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took her to Disney World because she was excited to see Minnie Mouse,\u201d Wilson recalled. \u201cThe day we got there, it was a monsoon. It was raining sheets and sheets of rain. Everybody was saying, \u2018Oh man, this is terrible.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A\u2019ja\u2019s reaction was much different.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe looked at me like, \u2018What\u2019s the big deal? It\u2019s just rain. Let\u2019s go,\u2019\u201d Wilson said. \u201cWe put on ponchos, went to Disney World, rode every ride, and she never complained.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That experience left a lasting impression.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat right there told me she was focused,\u201d he said. \u201cShe knew how to push through adversity. You can take that and spread it over everything\u2014adversity, success, whatever comes your way. That says it all right there. That\u2019s why I love my daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>One Step at a Time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Looking back on A\u2019ja\u2019s incredible career, Wilson doesn\u2019t believe his daughter meticulously mapped out every achievement.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, he says her success came from consistently building on each accomplishment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think she took one step at a time,\u201d Wilson explained. \u201cOne event, one success, and everything sort of came together. She built upon it. Once she gained one success, she put that underneath the next one and kept building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Wilson, that mindset hasn\u2019t changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s still doing that now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Importance of Fathers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wilson also shared a message about the vital role fathers play in their children\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s super important,\u201d he said. \u201cA father brings a totally different perspective than a mother.
