{"id":884558,"date":"2026-06-22T09:36:26","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T09:36:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/884558\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T09:36:26","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T09:36:26","slug":"motorcyclist-killed-in-early-morning-crash-on-shad-road-in-jacksonville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/884558\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorcyclist killed in early-morning crash on Shad Road in Jacksonville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\"><strong>JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 A motorcyclist was killed early Monday morning in a crash on Shad Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Investigators with JSO\u2019s Traffic Homicide Unit said the crash happened around 1:45 a.m. along Shad Road, near the intersection of Florida Mining Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Police said two motorcyclists were traveling eastbound together when one rider left the roadway and hit a concrete pole on the south side of the intersection. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The rider was described as a white man in his late 20s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The second motorcyclist was not hurt and was the one who called 911, investigators said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">JSO said the rider was wearing a helmet, but investigators believe speed may have been a factor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cHe was wearing a helmet, he was just going a little too fast,\u201d Sgt. Robert Hungerford said. \u201cHe did not estimate the correct speed for the curb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Investigators said they are still working to determine what led up to the crash.
