With summer now officially underway (Happy Solstice!), late night is beginning its seasonal slowdown, with several shows already in reruns and others squeezing in a few more originals before going dark.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s who\u2019s on the week of June 22, who\u2019s off, and who\u2019s soon to follow:<\/p>\n
Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/p>\n
Gone.<\/strong> Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> bid farewell to viewers last Thursday as he headed off on his annual summerlong vacation. His show gets a shorter breather: Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a> is going dark for two weeks before returning with new episodes\u2014and its first summer guest host, Tiffany Haddish<\/a>\u2014on July 6. (Kimmel\u2019s summer guest host roster<\/a> will also include Colman Domingo, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson, Jelly Roll, and Rosie O\u2019Donnell.) Kimmel himself is expected to return after Labor Day.<\/p>\n The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/p>\n On.<\/strong> It\u2019s still all systems go for Jimmy Fallon<\/a> and team this week, as The Tonight Show <\/a>airs originals featuring guests including Reese Witherspoon, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Millie Bobby Brown, Milly Alcock, and sombr. The Tonight Show is slated to begin a two-week break of its own after this Thursday night\u2019s show.<\/p>\n Comics Unleashed<\/p>\n On (with an asterisk).<\/strong> Though Comics Unleashed<\/a> is produced in a deliberately evergreen format, allowing episodes to be repeated indefinitely, the first half of the show\u2019s one-hour CBS block is typically first-run\u2014and that remains the case this week. The show\u2019s second half hour this week will be a selection of episodes that first aired last month.<\/p>\n Funny You Should Ask<\/p>\n Gone (with an asterisk).<\/strong> With no new episodes of Funny You Should Ask<\/a> currently being produced, there\u2019s nothing particularly unusual about the second hour of Byron Allen<\/a>\u2019s CBS late-night block consisting of episodes that have aired previously in syndication.<\/p>\n Late Night with Seth Meyers<\/p>\n Gone.<\/strong> Seth Meyers<\/a> and team are already off for the summer\u2019s first extended break. The show begins a three-week hiatus tonight, with Late Night<\/a> scheduled to return with new episodes July 13.<\/p>\n Nightline<\/p>\n On.<\/strong> As a news-oriented show, repeats aren\u2019t a part of the equation for Nightline<\/a>, which is scheduled to air new episodes this week as it does nearly every weeknight year-round.<\/p>\n The Daily Show<\/p>\n On (mostly).<\/strong> The Daily Show<\/a> will also be new this week, though its week will end early. Comedy Central\u2019s flagship series is set to air originals Monday through Wednesday before getting a head start on its one-week vacation Thursday. The show is scheduled to return with new episodes July 7.<\/p>\n Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen<\/p>\n On.<\/strong> Andy Cohen<\/a>\u2019s Bravo clubhouse is open this week, with a guest lineup that includes Michelle Buteau, Jerry O\u2019Connell, former SNL cast member Ego Nwodim, and Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist. Historically, Watch What Happens Live<\/a> has gone dark the week leading up to the Fourth of July holiday, which falls next week this year.<\/p>\n Gutfeld!<\/p>\n On.<\/strong> No rest for Gutfeld!<\/a>\u2014or at least for his production team. Though Greg Gutfeld<\/a> himself takes a week of vacation here and there, Gutfeld!\u2014like most shows on cable news\u2014plows through with guest hosts and new episodes almost every weeknight of the year.<\/p>\n FIFA World Cup on FOX After Hours with James Corden<\/p>\n On.<\/strong> James Corden<\/a>\u2019s World Cup-themed late-night pop-up is scheduled to produce new episodes Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights this week. All told, the six-week limited series<\/a> is producing 24 episodes before signing off alongside FOX\u2019s World Cup coverage on July 15.<\/p>\n Real Time with Bill Maher<\/p>\n On.<\/strong> Bill Maher<\/a> will front a new episode of Real Time<\/a> this Friday. After that, the long-running HBO series is expected to take a three-to-four-week summer break through July.<\/p>\n Last Week Tonight with John Oliver<\/p>\n On.<\/strong> John Oliver<\/a> is also on deck for this coming weekend, with a new episode of Last Week Tonight<\/a> airing Sunday, June 28. After that, Oliver begins a three-week summer break, with his HBO weekly series returning with new episodes July 31.<\/p>\n Saturday Night Live<\/p>\n Gone.<\/strong> No surprise here, as Saturday Night Live<\/a> closed out its 51st season over a month ago.
