\n\tTimoth\u00e9e Chalamet and Selena Gomez<\/a> are teaming up on \u201cNot Alone,\u201d a new alien-themed animated film from Illumination<\/a>, the studio behind huge franchises like \u201cDespicable Me\u201d and \u201cSuper Mario Bros.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his animation debut, Chalamet will voice Joe, an \u201cintroverted rocket mechanic who lives a quiet life alone,\u201d according to the announcement, which was made out of Annecy Animation Festival<\/a>. Gomez is set to play Fran, a \u201cbrilliant astro-botanist who is developing the world\u2019s first-ever plant-fueled rocket.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance,\u201d the film\u2019s synopsis reads. \u201cLife becomes more complicated when three aliens \u2014 tiny, unruly and adorable \u2014 take refuge in Joe\u2019s home. Dunk, Welly and Shirm are on the interplanetary run from a zealous-yet-inept officer of the law named Zandro. The aliens determine that Fran\u2019s rocket could provide their means of getting back home to safety.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDunk, Welly and Shirm will be voiced by Rob Brydon (\u201cBarbie,\u201d \u201cThe Trip\u201d), Diane Morgan (\u201cCunk On,\u201d \u201cMandy\u201d) and Jamie Demetriou (\u201cCruella,\u201d \u201cJay Kelly\u201d), while \u201cTed Lasso\u201d star Brett Goldstein will play Officer Zandro. The film\u2019s supporting cast includes Allison Janney (\u201cMinions & Monsters,\u201d \u201cThe Diplomat\u201d) and Lamorne Morris (\u201cFargo,\u201d \u201cSpider-Noir\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNot Alone\u201d will be co-directed by Illumination mainstays Eric Guillon, the co-director of \u201cDespicable Me 3\u201d and the designer of \u201cDespicable Me\u201d and \u201cMinions\u201d; Claire Dodgson, editor of \u201cThe Lorax\u201d and \u201cMinions\u201d; and Jonathan Del Val, co-director of \u201cMinions: The Rise of Gru\u201d and \u201cThe Secret Life of Pets 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNot Alone\u201d is dated for release on April 16, 2027. The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and executive produced by Joy Poirel, Richard Curtis and David Distenfeld.<\/p>\n

\n\tIllumination is fresh off premiering its latest \u201cMinions\u201d movie, \u201cMinions & Monsters,\u201d at Annecy.
