Guests can return to the Lamar Street taproom on July 4.

“We’ve invested in our brewery, our team, and our guest experience while staying true to what made Alamo Beer Company special in the first place. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back through our doors on July 4 and celebrate the next chapter together,” said CEO Jason Pond.

While Alamo Beer Company’s brand will stay, guests should expect new beers, according to a press release announcing the reopening.

Alamo Beer Company was founded by Eugene Simor in 1997. It hit choppy waters as expenses rose and alcohol consumers’ preferences shifted and the brewery filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the beginning of 2025.

Australian private equity group SKJ Capital bought Alamo Beer Company at the end of 2025. The new owners announced plans for a refresh to the brand and the taproom near downtown, as well as an overseas extension. SKJ Capital owns a brewery in Australia and it is bringing the Alamo Beer Company brand to that location.

When Alamo Beer Company closed in February, its owners said Viva Beer and ShotGun Seltzer, two brands acquired by Alamo Beer Company, will still be available.

The July 4 reopening will run from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and feature live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

Jasper Kenzo Sundeen covers business for the San Antonio Report.
