American, along with other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/18\/delta-air-lines-united-airlines.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">airlines<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/24\/american-airlines-aal-1q-2025-earnings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pulled<\/a> its 2025 financial outlook in April as carriers grappled with on-again-off-again tariffs and weaker-than-expected demand.<\/p>\n<p>The airline said in an earnings release that it only expects the low-end of its forecast if &#8220;there were to be macro weaknesses that are not seen today&#8221; and the high end if the domestic travel market continues to improve.<\/p>\n<p>Here is how American performed\u00a0in the <a href=\"https:\/\/americanairlines.gcs-web.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/american-airlines-reports-second-quarter-2025-financial-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second quarter<\/a>\u00a0compared with Wall Street estimates compiled by LSEG:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Earnings per share:<\/strong>\u00a095 cents adjusted vs. 78 cents<\/li>\n<li><strong>Revenue:<\/strong>\u00a0$14.39 billion vs. $14.3 billion expected<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Read more CNBC airline news<\/p>\n<p>For the third quarter, American said it expects an adjusted per-share loss of 10 cents to 60 cents, while analysts polled by LSEG estimated a 7 cent loss.<\/p>\n<p>In the three months ended June 30, American&#8217;s revenue rose 0.4% to $14.39 billion, ahead of expectations, while net income dropped 16.5% to $599 million, or 91 cents a share.
