{"id":885881,"date":"2026-06-22T23:14:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T23:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/885881\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T23:14:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T23:14:14","slug":"superintendent-carvalho-resigns-as-lausd-summer-classes-begin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/885881\/","title":{"rendered":"Superintendent Carvalho Resigns as LAUSD Summer Classes Begin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Los Angeles Unified School District summer classes began Monday with the district in search of a new leader, following the weekend resignation of embattled Superintendent Alberto Carvalho amid a monthslong FBI investigation over a failed AI chatbot venture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a great honor to serve you,\u201d Carvalho wrote in a letter Sunday night addressed to the district\u2019s students, families, teachers and staff. \u201cOver the past four years, together, we have made historic progress \u2014 gains that belong to our students, our educators, staff and our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carvalho did not offer any insight into the reasons for his decision to resign. He has been on paid administrative leave since February, when the FBI raided his homes in San Pedro and Florida, as well as his district office, in connection with a failed AI chatbot venture between the district and a company known as AllHere, which has since folded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlacing students first has always guided my work. Because I believe our schools must remain focused on students and learning without distraction, I am resigning as Superintendent of LAUSD effective today, June 21, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI leave grateful \u2014 to our students and families, whose protection we prioritized, for trusting us, to our exceptional and hard-working teachers, leaders, and staff at every level for their tireless dedication, to our valued partners, and to the community for the privilege of serving. The successes we have achieved belong to you. I will miss all of you and will continue to pray for the success, health, and wellbeing of every student and family in our District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo every student: work hard to realize your dreams and to live up to the promise of our nation. Never let anyone limit what you can accomplish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The LAUSD Board of Education issued a statement Sunday saying the district\u2019s mission is unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Board remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring stability, continuity, and continued progress through strong leadership,\u201d according ot the board statement. \u201cOur focus remains unchanged: providing every student with a high-quality education, supporting our dedicated workforce, and maintaining the trust of the communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andr\u00c3\u00a9s Chait will remain acting superintendent until a permanent decision is made.
