And homebuilders are trying to keep up. The area recorded a national high of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/07\/15\/d-fw-tops-nation-in-new-home-permits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/07\/15\/d-fw-tops-nation-in-new-home-permits\/\">71,788 home permits in 2024.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Research firm Zonda has compiled a list of the 10 largest homebuilders in D-FW by the number of home starts from April 2024 to the end of March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>D-FW Real Estate News<\/p>\n<p class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-cta-social-module__zWZy- mb-4\">Get the latest real estate news you need to know.<\/p>\n<p>1. D.R. Horton- 15.1% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/07\/22\/incentives-help-push-arlington-based-dr-horton-third-quarter-results-to-top-estimates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/07\/22\/incentives-help-push-arlington-based-dr-horton-third-quarter-results-to-top-estimates\/\">Arlington-based D.R. Horton<\/a> is the top homebuilder in D-FW by annual starts. The firm started on more than 7,100 homes for the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">That represents a 19% drop from the previous year\u2019s pace. <\/p>\n<p>2. Lennar &#8211; 11.3% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Miami-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2024\/02\/27\/lennar-plans-246-single-family-home-community-in-cedar-hill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2024\/02\/27\/lennar-plans-246-single-family-home-community-in-cedar-hill\/\">Lennar is the region\u2019s second<\/a>-largest builder. The firm started 5,313 homes for the year ending March 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">That represents a 9.9% year-over-year increase.<\/p>\n<p>3. Green Brick Partners- 7.1% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Plano-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2024\/02\/23\/green-brick-teams-up-with-hersh-family-investments-for-celina-community\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2024\/02\/23\/green-brick-teams-up-with-hersh-family-investments-for-celina-community\/\">Green Brick Partners<\/a> landed in the third spot. The firm had 3,337 home starts, a 27.8% increase from the prior year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Green Brick has made several large land purchases in northern D-FW with plans for housing developments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The firm acquired the first phase of land for its planned Burks Ranch development in March. Green Brick plans to build 2,100 homes on roughly 570 acres north of Pilot Point in Grayson County.<\/p>\n<p>4. Bloomfield Homes &#8211; 3.9% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Bloomfield Homes, headquartered in Southlake, is the region\u2019s fourth-largest homebuilder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The firm had 1,820 starts, a drop of 17.8% from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Don Dykstra, chairman of Bloomfield Homes, previously told The Dallas Morning News that his firm ramped up production during the second quarter. However, third-quarter starts would be down 50%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cThere are some great deals for people right now,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re providing incentives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>5. Highland Homes- 3.4% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Plano-based Highland Homes ranks fifth. The firm had 1,586 starts, down 16.7% from the year prior.<\/p>\n<p>6. Meritage Homes- 3.3% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Arizona-based Meritage Homes is the region\u2019s sixth-largest builder. The firm had 1,577 home starts, up 3.1% from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>7. Ashton Woods Homes- 2.8% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Atlanta-based Ashton Woods is D-FW\u2019s seventh-largest builder. The firm had 1,309 home starts, up 9.7% from the year prior.<\/p>\n<p>8. The Pulte Group- 2.7% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Atlanta-based Pulte Group is the eighth-largest builder. The firm had 1,278 annual home starts, down 25.9% from the prior year.<\/p>\n<p>9. First Texas Homes- 2.4% market share<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Dallas-based First Texas Homes is the region\u2019s ninth-largest builder. The firm had 1,121 home starts, up 3.9% yearly.<\/p>\n<p>10. David Weekley Homes- 2.1% market share <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Houston-based David Weekley is D-FW\u2019s 10th largest builder.
