{"id":886950,"date":"2026-06-23T10:15:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T10:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/886950\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T10:15:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T10:15:15","slug":"kevin-bacon-to-star-in-jeremy-slater-horror-thriller-summoner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/886950\/","title":{"rendered":"Kevin Bacon to Star in Jeremy Slater Horror Thriller &#8216;Summoner&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/kevin-bacon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kevin-bacon_1\" data-tag=\"kevin-bacon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Bacon<\/a> is set to star in Summoner, an Amazon MGM horror thriller on which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jeremy-slater\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jeremy-slater_1\" data-tag=\"jeremy-slater\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeremy Slater<\/a>, the longtime genre writer behind Mortal Kombat II and Umbrella Academy, will make his directorial debut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHorror filmmaker Andy Muschietti as well as Barbara Muschietti, and Russell Ackerman will produce via their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/nocturna\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nocturna_1\" data-tag=\"nocturna\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nocturna<\/a> banner. Nocturna was behind horror movie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/they-will-kill-you\/\" id=\"auto-tag_they-will-kill-you_1\" data-tag=\"they-will-kill-you\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">They Will Kill You<\/a> that was released by Warner Bros. in March<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe script, written by Slater, follows an exorcist names Jefferson Haddock (Bacon), who is called into an isolated witness protection property to deal with a terrifying demon, accidentally unleashing a force that threatens to end him and everything around him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDan Kagan, one of the producers of horror hit Longlegs, is executive producing.\u00a0The feature will shoot this fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSlater is one of the bold-faced screenwriter names when it comes to geeky genre material in both movies and TV. One of the writers of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/josh-trank\/\" id=\"auto-tag_josh-trank_1\" data-tag=\"josh-trank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Trank<\/a> Fantastic Four, Slater earned creator credits on Marvel Studios\u2019 Moon Knight and Fox\u2019s The Exorcist as well as Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. He was a co-creator on Netflix\u2019s long-running super hero series Umbrella Academy, based on the Dark Horse comic, and worked on Kombat II, which opened in May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSummoner is a rare starring feature turn for Bacon who, for the last several years, has made it a habit of stealing roles and steadying movies with his presence. He appeared in prestige mini-series Sirens and toplined the Amazon Prime Video series The Bondsman. He and wife Kyra Sedgwick recently directed and starred in the horror-comedy project\u00a0Family Movie\u00a0alongside their children, Travis Bacon and Sosie Bacon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBacon is repped by MGMT and Johnson Shapiro.
