{"id":887068,"date":"2026-06-23T11:32:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T11:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/887068\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T11:32:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T11:32:16","slug":"olivia-cooke-auditioned-for-rey-in-star-wars-i-was-really-bad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/887068\/","title":{"rendered":"Olivia Cooke Auditioned for Rey in &#8216;Star Wars&#8217;: &#8216;I Was Really Bad&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBefore <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/olivia-cooke\/\" id=\"auto-tag_olivia-cooke\" data-tag=\"olivia-cooke\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Olivia Cooke<\/a> starred in the \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d spinoff \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/house-of-the-dragon-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_house-of-the-dragon-2\" data-tag=\"house-of-the-dragon-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">House of the Dragon<\/a>,\u201d she once auditioned for another major franchise: \u201cStar Wars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDuring an appearance on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OWyKoDOTll0\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Horowitz\u2019s \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d<\/a> podcast, Cooke was asked if there was any truth to reports that she was up for a part in Rian Johnson\u2019s 2017 \u201cStar Wars\u201d movie \u201cThe Last Jedi.\u201d Though she said that was just a \u201cweird rumor,\u201d Cooke then revealed that she auditioned for the part of Rey, which would eventually go to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/daisy-ridley\/\" id=\"auto-tag_daisy-ridley\" data-tag=\"daisy-ridley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daisy Ridley<\/a>, in 2015\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/star-wars-the-force-awakens\/\" id=\"auto-tag_star-wars-the-force-awakens\" data-tag=\"star-wars-the-force-awakens\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI did audition a few times for the other one, where Daisy Ridley got [it],\u201d Cooke said. \u201cBut you know, everyone and their dog auditioned for that.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe audition also didn\u2019t exactly go as Cooke had hoped. \u201cI think I auditioned once in L.A., and then once with J.J. [Abrams]. And I was shit. I was really bad,\u201d she admitted. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cYou know when you go into an audition, and you\u2019re just not bringing it and you\u2019ve let yourself down, you\u2019ve let everyone down in the room?\u201d Cooke continued. \u201cDaisy did such an amazing job, I just wasn\u2019t that kind of an actor at that time.
