Families have just days left to apply for New York City\u2019s first free 2-K seats, with the application deadline approaching this week.<\/p>\n
The new program will launch this fall with 2,000 seats across five school districts in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. City officials say enrollment offers are expected to be sent out in August, and the program is slated to expand next year as part of Mayor Zohran Mamdani\u2019s broader effort to create universal child care.<\/p>\n
The deadline comes as many families are making plans for the summer and the upcoming school year, with child care remaining a major concern for parents across the city.<\/p>\n
Emmy Liss, head of the Mayor\u2019s Office of Child Care, joined \u201cMornings On 1\u201d to discuss eligibility requirements, the application process and what families should know before the deadline.<\/p>\n
