Daniil Medvedev has returned to winning ways on the court in Washington DC, helped by a new racket.<\/strong><\/p>\n

World number 14 Medvedev<\/a> is the eighth seed at the Washington Open<\/a>, the latest tournament on the ATP Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And he\u2019s already into the round of 16, having won his opening match 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 against American Reilly Opelka.<\/p>\n

Medvedev was excited for Wimbledon<\/a> this year, his most recent tournament before Washington, but that excitement quickly disappeared.<\/p>\n

One-time Grand Slam champion Medvedev lost in the first round of Wimbledon<\/a>, suffering a shock defeat to Benjamin Bonzi.<\/p>\n

But he\u2019s managed to recover in Washington, where Medvedev was asked how the new updated edition of his Tecnifibre racket has played so far.<\/p>\n

Also sharing how he adjusts his strings to match the current conditions, the Russian said: \u201cYeah, it\u2019s still the same racket. It\u2019s just a different color, which is great. It changes up.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd even a lot of players tell me they like the new color, which is rare. Usually we don\u2019t talk about other rackets.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pretty fun. I like the bag a lot. It\u2019s cool. Inside it\u2019s tougher to see but it\u2019s like this tiffany blue, so pretty fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut about the strings, I generally kind of try to not change the tension too much. That\u2019s how I am. But still, you just put it up a little bit because it\u2019s so hot so the ball is flying low.\u201d<\/p>\n

What ATP Tour titles has Daniil Medvedev won in his career?<\/p>\n

Perhaps Medvedev will be handed a timely confidence boost with the change, having endured a frustrating season so far.<\/p>\n

Having once reached number one in the ATP Tour rankings, he has remarkably dropped all the way down to 14th.<\/p>\n

Daniil Medvedev ATP titles<\/p>\n

Medvedev also boasts 20 titles from his fantastic career so far, but has yet to taste any success this season.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old Russian came closest in Halle last month, where the third seed lost the final to Alexander Bublik.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A first ATP title since 2023 may well be on his agenda this week, where Medvedev has also been showing off his new shoes.<\/p>\n

Whether or not they and the racket can help him achieve success remains to be seen, but he should be desperate for a first success of 2025, particularly with the US Open rapidly approaching.<\/p>\n

The fourth and final Grand Slam of the season gets underway this time next month, a tournament Medvedev won in 2021.<\/p>\n
