The floats, which take four days to assemble, are decorated with silk flowers, coffee beans, crushed pine cones, and cranberry seeds, with each telling a different story.  July 2 is significant because it is the day the Continental Congress officially declared independence from Great Britain. Founder and former President John Adams had wanted this day to be recognized as Independence Day.Adams predicted the day would be marked by \u201cpomp and parade\u201d for generations to come, which inspired the event\u2019s name.  \u201cI won\u2019t be here for the 300th, but I bet these kids and this parade on July 2 will be here,\u201d Todd Marcocci of Pomp and Parade said.
