PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Workers at another Center City hotel have voted to authorize a strike should a new contract not be in place by 12 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Employees at the Warwick Hotel, located on 17th Street between Walnut and Locust streets, voted unanimously on Wednesday to authorize a strike. <\/p>\n
Hospitality workers represented by UNITE HERE Local 274 have been negotiating for a minimum wage of $30 an hour for non-tipped workers, gratuity on banquets held at the hotel, and a 15-room daily quota for housekeepers, among other demands.<\/p>\n
The Warwick is also the fourth Center City hotel to potentially see a workers’ strike during the current contract cycle. Workers at the Hampton Inn Center City and Wyndham Historic District hotels also hit the pickets lines, but both recently ratified new contracts.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, workers at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel at 17th and Race streets entered their fourth day on the picket line.<\/p>\n
Union leaders said workers there are fighting for a $30 per hour wage by 2028 and access to family healthcare. Demonstrators marched from the Sheraton to the Warwick Wednesday afternoon ahead of a bargaining meeting between labor leaders and hotel management.<\/p>\n
