\"Priyanka Priyanka Chopra may be bagging some of the biggest films and web series in Hollywood right now, but the actress, in her latest chat, opened up about her ambitions.During a conversation at the Cannes Lions conference on Wednesday, Priyanka got candid about her evolving careers in India and Hollywood. Reflecting on the current entertainment landscape, Chopra gushed, “What a wonderful time to be an entertainer, to be in the entertainment business, because ideas are your currency.”<\/p>\n

Addressing the changes in the film industry over the years, she said to Variety, “I feel like if you have an idea, shoot it, put it on YouTube, and it can become ‘Obsession,’ the movie that just came out.” She further explained, “It used to be such a niche industry when I first started. If you wanted to get into filmmaking, you had to figure out what department you wanted to be in.”<\/p>\n

Priyanka Chopra compares Indian career to Hollywood<\/p>\n

The actress, who recently starred in the streaming hits ‘Citadel’ and ‘Heads of State’, also discussed her desire to expand her English-language career and explore a wider range of roles with bigger talents. Comparing her work in both industries, she said, “In my Hindi-language career, I’ve worked with all the best filmmakers and the best actors, I’ve told amazing stories and done a variety of genres. Whereas in America, in Hollywood, in my English-language work, I haven’t really done that as much.”Looking ahead, Chopra shared her thoughts about reinventing herself. She said her \u201cnext reinvention\u201d is \u201cfiguring out how, in (her) English-language work\u201d she can bring that \u201ckind of variety to my characters that I have been able to do in India.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress also shared her decision to launch a production company in the US, was driven by a desire to support emerging storytellers. She said, “I started my production house to support new filmmakers, or filmmakers who have great ideas but don’t have the ability to open doors that I may be able to open.”<\/p>\n

Priyanka Chopra on her change in priorities<\/p>\n

During the discussion, Chopra also reflected on how her personal life has evolved since marrying singer and actor Nick Jonas<\/a> and becoming a mother. Admitting that her \u201clife has changed tremendously,\u201d she added, \u201cYour priorities really change. I don\u2019t just pack my bags and go off for a movie anymore. I don\u2019t do five films a year. I don\u2019t travel the way I used to. I\u2019m really, really selective about the time I spend and who I spend it with\u2026 I\u2019m navigating working-mom life. I have so much more respect for my mother now.\u201dPriyanka will be seen next in SS Rajamouli’s film ‘Varanasi’.
