{"id":891296,"date":"2026-06-25T07:37:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T07:37:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/891296\/"},"modified":"2026-06-25T07:37:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T07:37:15","slug":"colorado-wolf-crosses-i-25-as-part-of-wide-ranging-movement-map-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/891296\/","title":{"rendered":"Colorado wolf crosses I-25 as part of wide-ranging movement, map shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of Colorado\u2019s collared wolves crossed east of Interstate 25 in the past month \u2014 the first time a wolf has crossed the highway corridor since wolves were reintroduced to the state in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>That wolf briefly crossed the interstate in southeastern Colorado and moved through watersheds in Pueblo, Otero and Las Animas counties before returning west of the highway, <a href=\"https:\/\/cpw.state.co.us\/wolf-sightings\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colorado Parks and Wildlife<\/a> officials announced Wednesday. <a href=\"https:\/\/cpw.widencollective.com\/assets\/share\/asset\/0puumaart7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The latest monthly map of wolf activity<\/a>, released Wednesday, shows the wolf moved through watersheds surrounding the city of Pueblo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis activity east of I-25 highlights the broad movements made by dispersing wolves,\u201d agency officials said in a news release. \u201cCPW is in active communication with producers who have known wolf activity near their operations and is coordinating access to conflict minimization resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For months, wolf activity <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2026\/05\/27\/colorados-wolves-locations-may-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has been concentrated in Colorado\u2019s central mountains<\/a>. The map released Wednesday \u2014 which depicts the watersheds where wolves wandered between May 26 and Tuesday \u2014 shows at least one wolf moved through the San Luis Valley and along the New Mexico border.<\/p>\n<p>Wolves also remained present near Gunnison, Rifle, Meeker, Vail and Steamboat Springs.
