Lisa Blunt Rochester avoided <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/24\/us-news\/mamdanis-red-wedding-sweep-in-nyc-congressional-races-came-from-small-sliver-of-dem-voters\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">answering where socialism<\/a> has been \u201cbeneficial\u201d when giving her thoughts on the recent\u00a0New York primary elections.<\/p>\n<p>Blunt Rochester was asked on CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk Box\u201d Wednesday morning about the results of the primaries <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/23\/us-news\/mamdani-backed-lefties-sweep-in-nyc-congressional-primaries-as-socialist-mayors-influence-grows-to-dc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">where\u00a0three socialist candidates\u00a0<\/a>not only won their elections but defeated two incumbent lawmakers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rather than comment on what impact this could have on the broader Democratic Party, Blunt Rochester celebrated the wins as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that,\u00a0first of all, the fact that people are engaged at a level they\u2019ve never been engaged\u00a0before is a positive thing, especially in the 250th anniversary of this country,\u201d Blunt Rochester said. \u201cWe want people to participate. What I can say, though, about Democrats, and as someone who\u00a0is working to win the majority, what I can say is that politics are local.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She described <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/24\/us-news\/ny-gop-gov-hopeful-bruce-blakeman-calls-for-common-sense-dems-to-join-him-after-mamdani-sweep\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">how Democratic candidates<\/a> will run differently depending on where they\u2019re running, adding how Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola is campaigning on \u201cfish, family and freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester speaks during a Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee confirmation hearing on June 24, 2026. And so for us, the most important thing is that we hear\u00a0the people. We want to be known that we\u2019re listening to them and that we\u2019re fighting for them. And again, it might look different in different places across the country, but we do\u00a0believe that people are concerned about this economy and the cost of things. And so we\u2019re going to continue to fight for them. Fox News<\/p>\n<p>Kernen repeated his question, to which Blunt Rochester replied, \u201cWell, when you have me come back on we can talk about all the races across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kernen then acknowledged that the remark was a \u201crhetorical question that I was answering myself\u201d and thanked her for her time.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News Digital\u00a0reached out to Blunt Rochester\u2019s office for comment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/24\/us-news\/meet-the-gop-hopefuls-taking-on-mamdani-endorsed-ny-house-dems\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York candidates Brad Lander,<\/a> Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier\u00a0each campaigned\u00a0on a socialist economic agenda, anti-Israel posture and opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
