Happy Thursday,<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you think about the American West, what imagery comes to mind? Mountain ranges, the transcontinental railroad, horses and, of course, cowboys.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Celebrate the history and heritage of these icons of ranching, roping and riding during the National Day of the American Cowboy<\/a> this Saturday at the Fort Worth Stockyards. The family event features a parade, fiddle showcase, barbecue eating contest, cowboy poetry and a champion rodeo at Cowtown Coliseum.<\/p>\n

Honor the American cowboy with family fun at the Stockyards<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The John Wayne: An American Experience museum is also giving $2 off admission<\/a> to those who wear their cowboy hats. Current exhibitions include \u201cThe Guns That Won The West\u201d and \u201cAndy Warhol Reimagines the West.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seven photos from San Antonio artist Chuck Ramirez highlight community-centered celebrations in Texas. This is the first time the artworks are on view at the Carter since entering its collection. <\/p>\n

Dallas artist Jon Flaming has selected 53 total works by 51 artists from across the state. One artist will win a $10,000 prize and the opportunity to show at the Fort Worth gallery in a group or solo exhibition in 2025-26.<\/p>\n
