Despite swirling rumors about relocation and ownership changes, the Connecticut Sun<\/a> is staying in Uncasville \u2014 at least for now.<\/p>\n

In a letter sent to season ticket holders on Wednesday<\/a>, the Sun confirmed their plans to remain at Mohegan Sun Arena for the 2026 WNBA season. The message, shared via email, aimed to reassure fans amid rising speculation about the franchise\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know there has been a lot of conversation in the media about the future of the team,\u201d the letter read, according to NBC Connecticut.<\/a> \u201cBut please know that we will be playing the 2026 season here at Mohegan Sun Arena and thus are very happy to be able to start our Season Ticket Auto-Renewal Process!\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement follows months of uncertainty after the team\u2019s ownership, Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, hired Allen & Company \u2014 the same firm overseeing the WNBA\u2019s expansion efforts \u2014 to explore a potential sale and relocation. <\/p>\n

While those talks remain behind closed doors, the move fueled speculation that the Sun could be on the move in the near future.<\/p>\n

It hasn\u2019t helped that the franchise has faced a series of challenges off the court, though. <\/p>\n

Uncasville is considered one of the league\u2019s smallest markets, and last year\u2019s playoff run was marred by reports that players had to share a practice court with a toddler\u2019s birthday party. <\/p>\n

The Sun remains the only team in the WNBA without access to a standalone, professional-grade practice facility \u2014 nor any concrete plans to build one.<\/p>\n

On the court, the struggles have continued<\/a>. <\/p>\n

After seven straight playoff appearances, the Sun are in the midst of a painful downturn, holding a league-worst 3\u201319 record. They are also the only team without a single All-Star selection this season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And the concerns aren\u2019t just coming from the front office or fans \u2014 they\u2019re echoing across the league as well.<\/a><\/p>\n

In The Athletic\u2019s recently published anonymous WNBA player poll, players were asked to name the league\u2019s worst-run organization. <\/p>\n

The Sun topped the list, with eight of 27 players \u2014 nearly 30 percent \u2014 pointing to the franchise. Players cited poor infrastructure, lack of adequate practice facilities, and the team\u2019s isolated location in Uncasville as major drawbacks.<\/p>\n

The Sun will host the Los Angeles Sparks in the team\u2019s first game back following a eight-day break and a tough loss at Boston\u2019s sold-out TD Garden against Indiana on July 15<\/a>.<\/p>\n
