Blue Origin announced today an agreement with Scout Space to integrate one of its flagship next-generation space domain awareness (SDA) Owl sensors onboard the first mission of Blue Ring, our highly maneuverable multi-mission spacecraft for payload delivery, hosting, and infrastructure services.\u00a0Blue Ring’s first mission is expected\u00a0to launch\u00a0in spring 2026\u00a0with initial injection into Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO), with additional services performed in Geostationary Orbit (GEO).<\/p>\n

Blue Ring is a multi-mission, multi-destination vehicle providing full-service payload delivery, hosting, and end-to-end mission operations. The vehicle\u2019s architecture promotes mission-unique adaption to meet a variety of customer and mission needs in GEO, xGEO, Cislunar, Mars, and beyond. Our spacecraft has industry-leading capabilities, including a nominal delta-V of at least 3,000m\/s (with a max of 4,000m\/s) enabled by electric and chemical propulsion systems. The spacecraft is capable of supporting up to 4,000kg of payload capacity across 13 ports, and has powerful on-board edge computing and processing capabilities enabling flexible mission design.<\/p>\n
This mission highlights a unique combination of Blue Ring\u2019s dynamic maneuverability and on-orbit services, in concert with Owl sensor\u2019s ability to detect and track satellites, debris, and other resident space objects at long distance from some of the most demanding operating environments. <\/p>\n
Scout\u2019s Owl sensor is designed to enhance real-time tracking, characterization, and assessment of space objects by integrating advanced optical sensing, onboard artificial intelligence-driven processing, and autonomous decision-making capabilities to deliver domain-wide intelligence in space in support of the U.S. Space Force\u2019s space control mission set. The sensor is part of Scout\u2019s Owl product line. By integrating the sensor onto Blue Ring, the spacecraft autonomously monitors and assesses resident space objects, introducing an enhanced SDA capability to the GEO domain.<\/p>\n
