PHOENIX (AZFamily) \u2014 <\/b>Drivers out and about this weekend should allow some extra time as five Phoenix-area freeways will be shut down.<\/p>\n

Northbound State Route 51 (SR 51) will be closed between the Interstate 10 \u201cMini-Stack\u201d interchange and Indian School Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for the pavement improvement project. All I-10 and Loop 202 ramps to northbound SR 51 will also be shut down. Drivers can use Interstate 17 to head north or take surface streets such as 16th, 24th or 32nd streets.<\/p>\n

The eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will be closed between Alma School and Cooper roads in the Chandler area from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project. The closure includes southbound Loop 101 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 and eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Price and Dobson roads.<\/p>\n

The westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Price Road will be closed from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

Drivers should consider using Chandler Boulevard, Pecos Road and Germann Road to head east past the construction.<\/p>\n

The southbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between Princess Drive and Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Sunday due to pavement improvements. Eastbound and southbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Scottsdale and Hayden roads will be closed. Detours include using SR 51 or Scottsdale Road to Shea Boulevard to get around the roadwork.<\/p>\n

Drivers should also note that the right lane will be closed heading south on Loop 101 from 4 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

The northbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between University Drive and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Southern Avenue and Broadway Road will also be closed. Alternate routes include McClintock Drive and Alma School Road.<\/p>\n

Another closure is the eastbound U.S. 60 Superstition Freeway between Crismon and Tomahawk roads from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday for pavement maintenance. Drivers should use Baseline Road or Southern Avenue to get around the closure.<\/p>\n

Lastly, in the north Valley, the westbound Loop 303 will be closed between I-17 and 43rd Avenue from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday for crews to widen the freeway and improve the interchange. The northbound I-17 off-ramp at Loop 303\/Sonoran Desert Drive will be closed, too. Drivers can detour via Dove Valley Road.<\/p>\n
