PHOENIX (KVOA) – Arizona\u2019s America250 Commission and the Arizona Office of Tourism have launched Passport250, a new mobile pass designed to guide Arizonans and visitors through the state’s heritage in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n
The pass features 25 locations around Arizona, with more to be added leading up to the Semiquincentennial next year, according to a press release. It includes categories aiming to highlight the state’s landmarks and cultural experiences.<\/p>\n
\u201cPassport250 offers immersive exploration of Arizona’s iconic landmarks, historical sites, cultural institutions, and unique experiences,” said Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, who is also the chairman of the Arizona America250 Commission.<\/p>\n
The featured categories include Treasures250, Indigenous Travel250, Commemorate250, and Dark Skies250. Officials said upcoming additions include Cheers250 and Dine250.<\/p>\n
Once the sign-up is completed, the pass is immediately delivered to the individual’s phone where they can start their explorations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Residents, local leaders and community stakeholders are invited to nominate local landmarks and hidden gems to be featured through an online form<\/a>.<\/p>\n Passport250 holders can also earn prizes by checking into locations.<\/p>\n “Passport250 makes it super simple and fun to explore Arizona’s amazing places,” said Alix Skelpsa Ridgway, interim director of the Arizona Office of Tourism.<\/p>\n The pass promotes responsible heritage tourism and supports cultural institutions. Users can access free admission to some sites with an Act One Culture Pass<\/a> available at libraries statewide.<\/p>\n
