\n\tMore than 40 years later, Rob Lowe<\/a> and friends are getting closer to reigniting St. Elmo\u2019s Fire with a long-awaited sequel.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 6x Golden Globe nominee, who has previously noted there\u2019s interest in a follow-up, recently revealed that the team is \u201cworking on\u201d a script, which they want to get just right.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m trying to get it done, but I\u2019m excited,\u201d he said on The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/a>. \u201cI think the reason that St. Elmo\u2019s continues to mean a lot to people is because it\u2019s such a great snapshot of your 20s.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLowe added, \u201cEveryone wants to do it. We just need to get the script right, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re working on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBack in 2024, Lowe told Entertainment Tonight that the sequel is in \u201cvery early stages<\/a>\u201d after he \u201cmet with the studio.\u201d He noted that the documentary \u201conly added to the excitement around\u201d the film and a potential sequel.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tNBC was previously developing a St. Elmo\u2019s Fire series<\/a> in 2019, which was set to be a modernized take on the original but never materialized.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe original Joel Schumacher film starred Lowe, Demi Moore, Andie MacDowell, Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy, Mare Winningham, Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez as a group of recent college graduates who struggle with adulthood as the venture into the world.<\/p>\n
