Robert Garcia of Long Beach Thursday demanded Committee Chair James Comer to \u201cimmediately\u201d sign and deliver the subpoena.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/oversightdemocrats.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/democrats-oversight.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2025-07-24.garcia-to-comer-re-epstein-files-subpoena-with-enclosure.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to Comer demands the DOJ produce the complete files that detail the federal government\u2019s investigation into Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, and his associates within 30 days of the subpoena.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are being clear and demanding that President Trump release the full Epstein files,\u201d the committee\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/politics\/robert-garcia-long-beach-house-overnight\/3731592\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">top Democrat<\/a> said Thursday morning in Long Beach.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The American people have waited long enough for the Epstein files.<\/p>\n<p>NEW TODAY: Ranking Member <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepRobertGarcia?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@RepRobertGarcia<\/a> is requesting that Chair Comer sign &amp; deliver the Committee\u2019s subpoena for the Epstein files, which Oversight Dems won in yesterday\u2019s Subcommittee hearing. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zQ0CTbsy9r\">pic.twitter.com\/zQ0CTbsy9r<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Oversight Dems (@OversightDems) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OversightDems\/status\/1948455894716743959?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July 24, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Three Republicans on the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee joined the Democrats in approving the motion during Wednesday\u2019s subcommittee meeting, which Garcia called \u201ca huge win for the American public.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Comer is forced to sign the subpoena as a result of the vote, but the letter ensures that the subpoena is comprehensive and the requested files will be produced in 30 days, according to Garcia. He added that Comer has promised that he will issue the official subpoena to the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you harmed and abused children, minors, young women, then you need to be held accountable for your crimes, and the Oversight Committee is ready to do just that,\u201d the former Long Beach mayor said.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoena requests the redaction of the names of the victims, their personal information and child sexual abuse material, according to the letter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Wednesday, Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/house-oversight-committee-subpoena-doj-epstein-files-rcna220387\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subpoenaed<\/a> Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, for a deposition at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia will represent House Democrats and the Oversight Committee at the deposition of Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year-sentence after being charged with federal sex-trafficking, in August, he announced.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia warned of Thursday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/trump-administration\/live-blog\/trump-epstein-maxwell-powell-tariffs-immigration-live-updates-rcna219894\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">private meeting<\/a> between Maxwell, her attorneys and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, alleging the Justice Department is not allowing any members of the Oversight Committee to be present.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think it is incredibly suspicious, dangerous and we\u2019re very concerned with what\u2019s happening at that conversation today between Miss Maxwell, the attorneys and Donald Trump&#8217;s Department of Justice, but we will ensure we have a deposition on our own,\u201d the ranking member said.<\/p>\n<p>Although he said Democrats wanted the files released, Garcia emphasized that the release of the files \u201chas been Donald Trump\u2019s issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fallout over the Epstein files has plagued President Trump and the Republican party\u2019s agenda as the White House struggles to kill the story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">President Donald Trump<\/a> and his aides have settled on silence as a strategy to stamp out criticism of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/tech\/internet\/doj-memo-jeffrey-epstein-theories-angers-conservatives-rcna217272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refusal to release files<\/a> detailing the federal government&#8217;s investigation of Epstein, according to NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>Republican leaders in Congress have, for the moment, largely evaded a bipartisan push to require the release of the Epstein files, and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/house-cancels-votes-fight-jeffrey-epstein-files-rcna220238\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">adjourned his chamber early<\/a> for
