Celtics<\/strong> star Jaylen Brown<\/a><\/strong> fired back on Saturday after ESPN\u2019s Bobby Marks did a radio interview where he cited an analytics expert who questions Brown\u2019s value, relays Jay King of The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s mixed feelings about him when you talk to teams,\u201d Marks said during an appearance on the NBA\u2019s Sirius XM channel (Twitter audio link<\/a>). \u201cThe analytics of Jaylen Brown is not good. \u2026 I had one \u2014 not an executive, but an analytics guy, say that, \u2018Yeah, we view him as like the seventh-best player on a team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown, who\u2019s the subject of intense trade speculation throughout the league, responded with a Twitter message<\/a> stating, \u201cAnalytics nowadays used to discredit and control narratives \u2013 Roll the ball out none of these guys better than me on both ends who does he work for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown also sent out several posts noting his NBA accomplishments and questioning the increased reliance on analytic departments to determine personnel decisions. \u201cNobody has won more combined regular season and playoff games since I entered the league 10 years ago,\u201d he posted<\/a>, later following it by stating<\/a>, \u201cAnalytics have \/ are ruining the game we playing AI hoops.\u201d<\/p>\n
