Last Wednesday (June 24), Rush<\/a> faced a major hiccup in their Fifty Something reunion tour<\/a>\u00a0when they announced<\/a> that that night\u2019s kickoff to their four-night residency at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX needed to be \u201crescheduled for . . . July 2\u201d due to \u201ctravel and border-related delays.\u201d Now, bassist\/keyboardist\/vocalist Geddy Lee<\/a> and guitarist Alex Lifeson<\/a> have shared a video apology and explanation for the postponed Texas show.<\/p>\n

Rush\u2019s Apology + Explanation for Texas Show Postponement<\/strong><\/p>\n

This past Friday (June 26), Rush posted the following statement to their Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a> accounts:<\/p>\n

Thank you all for understanding! We can count on one hand how many shows we had to cancel or postpone in our 50+ year career. It\u2019s not in our nature to do so but sometimes things happen that are completely out of our control. We appreciate y\u2019all! \u00a0Now let\u2019s rock Dallas Fort Worth!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Alongside it, Lee and Lifeson appeared in a roughly minute-long video (shot at Dickies Arena) in which they offered more details and gratitude regarding the situation and fans\u2019 understanding of the setback.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re finally here,\u201d Lee began. \u201cWe want to sincerely apologize to all those people that were inconvenienced by the mishap that happened coming into the country with our gear that caused us to have to postpone that first show. We feel terrible about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lifeson agreed, after which Lee asked Lifeson: \u201cWhat do you have to say about that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I feel terrible about that, but what can you do? It\u2019s one of those things. The trucks didn\u2019t get here. Eventually, they did. Everything\u2019s set up, as you can see, and it\u2019s gonna be great. We\u2019re gonna make it up on a great last show next week,\u201d Lifeson explained.<\/p>\n

Then, Lee joked: \u201cSo we\u2019ve got four shows we\u2019re excited about, and the postponement show we\u2019re going to make even less mistakes than we normally do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I don\u2019t know about,\u201d Lifeson added as they both laughed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyway,\u201d Lee continued, \u201cAgain, heartfelt apologies to those that came from far and wide to see these shows and were unable to stay. We hope you can come to another show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSee you soon. Love you,\u201d Lifeson concluded as he and Lee waved at the camera.<\/p>\n

To the band\u2019s point, even people who traveled great distances for the June 24 performance have reacted to the postponement and aforementioned apology\/explanation with compassion and excitement.<\/p>\n

For instance, one Facebook user replied to the video: \u201cIn my 48 years of attending live events this was the THIRD concert I\u2019ve shown up for only to find out it\u2019s been canceled. Flew in from NorCal & thankfully Delta Air Lines, Marriott & Texas BBQ & bourbon made everything\u2026\u201dagreeable\u201d. See y\u2019all in YYZ in August!\u201d<\/p>\n

Likewise, someone on Instagram responded: \u201cI flew in for the show and will have to miss the make up show. I totally understand tho. Am disappointed but life happens!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Fortunately, Rush\u2019s actual first performance at Dickies Arena went well on June 26, with them pulling out classics such as \u201cLimelight,\u201d \u201cThe Spirit of Radio,\u201d \u201cRed Barchetta,\u201d \u201cYYZ,\u201d \u201cWorking Man\u201d and \u201cThe Garden\u201d (per setlist.fm<\/a>). The remaining three nights are still scheduled for tonight (June 28), June 30 and July 2, and from there, Lee, Lifeson, touring drummer Anika Nilles<\/a> and touring keyboardist Loren Gold<\/a> will head to Illinois, New York and Ontario, Canada before traveling to many other parts of North America.<\/p>\n

How Has Rush\u2019s Fifty Something Tour Been Going?<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Rush\u2019s Fifty Something tour has been matching \u2013 if not exceeding \u2013 fans\u2019 expectations since it began at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles earlier this month.<\/p>\n

As Loudwire<\/a> wrote back on June 8, Rush\u2019s inaugural\u00a0Fifty Something show saw Lee declaring: \u201cWe’re here for so many reasons. We’re here to celebrate over 50 years of music that [Alex Lifeson<\/a>], myself and the great\u00a0Neil Peart<\/a>\u00a0made together. We’re here to pay tribute to Neil.” They also opened with \u201cXanadu\u201d (from 1977\u2019s A Farewell to Kings<\/a>) for the first time ever (according to setlist.fm<\/a>) and all four nights of their Kia Forum stint featured Aimee Man reprising her role as Lee\u2019s singing partner<\/a> on \u201cTime Stand Stills\u201d from 1987\u2019s Hold Your Fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cumulatively, their subsequent stops at the Kia Forum, Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City and Dickies Arena found them doing rarities<\/a> such as \u201cThe Analog Kid,\u201d \u201cLeave That Thing Alone\u201d and \u201cThe Trees.\u201d They also played Moving Pictures in full<\/a> (as well as \u201c2112\u201d), and they shared the following message of gratitude<\/a> on June 14 (following the end of their four-night residency at the Kia Forum):<\/p>\n
