Veteran actor John Posey played Danny Tanner in the original unaired pilot of \u201cFull House.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe shot an entire pilot, actually, with a different dad, with John Posey, who was a lovely human being and very sweet and wonderful,\u201d Jodie Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner on the show, shared on a recent episode of Black Eyed Peas rapper\u00a0Taboo\u2019s \u201cTaboo\u2019s Comics & Kicks\u201d podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n But Bob Saget \u201cwas the first choice\u201d to play Danny, Sweetin said.<\/p>\n Jodie Sweetin (seen above) spoke on the \u201cTaboo\u2019s Comics & Kicks\u201d podcast about how John Posey played Danny Tanner in the original unaired pilot of \u201cFull House.\u201d Taboo’s Comics & Kicks\/YouTube<\/p>\n Sweetin (pictured above on the podcast) called Posey \u201ca lovely human being.\u201d Taboo’s Comics & Kicks\/YouTube<\/p>\n \u201cSo when he was no longer doing the show that was conflicting with\u00a0\u2018Full House,\u2019 we reshot the entire pilot,\u201d the actress explained, referring to Saget\u2019s commitment to host CBS\u2019\u00a0\u201cThe Morning Program.\u201d<\/p>\n Sweetin, 44, said creator Jeff Franklin \u201chad to fight so hard\u201d to reshoot the pilot because it was so expensive.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was like, \u2018I just know it. I just know this is who we need as the dad,’\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd he was right.\u201d<\/p>\n Sweetin explained that Saget (seen above in \u201cFull House\u201d) was cast in the sitcom after his schedule freed up. \u00a9ABC\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n Sweetin said they \u201creshot the entire pilot\u201d after Saget replaced Posey (who is seen above at the \u201cLondon Calling\u201d premiere in Los Angeles in 2025). Variety via Getty Images<\/p>\n Saget played the widowed Tanner family patriarch in all eight seasons of \u201cFull House.\u201d <\/p>\n The actor died on Jan. 9, 2022<\/a>, at age 65.<\/p>\n He was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida, and his autopsy report revealed his death was \u201cthe result of blunt head trauma\u201d after suffering bleeding and contusions to his brain.<\/p>\n In \u201cFull House,\u201d aside from Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen<\/a> played Danny\u2019s other daughters, D.J. and Michelle Tanner.<\/p>\n The show also starred John Stamos, Dave Coulier,<\/a> Lori Loughlin<\/a> and Andrea Barber.<\/p>\n Saget (seen above in the show with Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure) played Danny Tanner in all eight seasons of \u201cFull House.\u201d Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n Saget (pictured above) starred alongside Sweetin, Cameron Bure, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, John Stamos, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin.
