The final signature event of the 2026 season wrapped up Monday as 72 of the PGA Tour’s best — well, the top two, actually — were unable to complete the tournament before nightfall Sunday at the 2026 Travelers Championship. With TPC River Highlands hosting the final signature event of the season, the Travelers stood as the last chance before the FedEx Cup Playoffs for players to grab their share of a $20 million purse.<\/p>\n
Due to inclement weather late Sunday and the need for a playoff after Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler played the first 72 holes to matching 21-under scores, everyone reconvened Monday morning for playoff holes. It only took one additional attempt at the 18th to decide a champion, however, as Hovland made his putt from inside 7 feet while Scheffler’s effort from inside 3 feet skirted past the hole, costing the world No. 1 a cool $1.44 million (the difference in prize money between first and second place in Cromwell, Connecticut).<\/p>\n
Hovland takes home $3.6 million for his efforts with Scheffler adding a $2.2 million check — certainly nothing to sneeze at. More frustrating for Scheffler is that he now has four runner-up finishes and eight top 5s since his last win at the first tournament of the season, The American Express.<\/p>\n
Everyone who finished in the top 11 this week is taking home at least $500,000, while the top 36 were all guaranteed a six-figure payday.<\/p>\n
