Registration to attend the pop-up is still open. Those interested can sign up at <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=55RIqMWH40CXgzINAzSzzL2NoRzcM7BMvJe16aVFdARUMUNIQTZXSVNZQTZDTzk3U0xCSVRYRDZVVC4u\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dallasnews.com\/smupopup<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Greg Clock of Dallas, a longtime reader and former journalist, was the pop-up\u2019s first attendee. He came to advocate for the longevity of the paper\u2019s print edition, which he has been reading since he was 6 years old. He spoke to editors while holding his own copy of Monday\u2019s print edition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>L.D. Pullen, an SMU public policy master\u2019s student who ran a write-in campaign for Dallas City Council\u2019s District 10 seat in 2025, stumbled upon the pop-up on his way to study. He stayed because of his love of news.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pullen shared hopes on the paper continuing to hold more community-based events, suggesting The News\u2019 journalists could expand news literacy education efforts to include financial literacy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pop-up is part of The News\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/trust\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">trust initiative<\/a>, launched in 2025. Through listening sessions, media literacy education and community events, The News is working to engage with the community it serves. In March, The News set up shop in <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=55RIqMWH40CXgzINAzSzzL2NoRzcM7BMvJe16aVFdARUMUNIQTZXSVNZQTZDTzk3U0xCSVRYRDZVVC4u\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red Bird<\/a>. Most recently, residents were invited to the downtown Dallas office to learn how the paper is produced through an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/article\/readers-spend-morning-inside-newsroom-22261905.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cInside the Newsroom\u201d<\/a> event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"The Dallas Morning News is hosting a pop-up newsroom to connect with residents. Sign up\u00a0with the QR code.<\/p>\n<p>The Dallas Morning News<\/p>\n<p>Managing Editor Amy Hollyfield spoke to the importance of the trust initiative and how it is helping the paper fulfill its mission to serve North Texas. The neighborhoods surrounding SMU are a high-subscriber area, according to Hollyfield.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This will not be the paper\u2019s last pop-up, Hollyfield said, sharing hopes to venture further into North Texas. She is eyeing Collin County as another potential site.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The News is continuing to explore how to expand the trust initiative. \u201cWe know we can help grow people\u2019s trust in media when they meet us and hear us and understand us,\u201d Hollyfield said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>She shared hopes that the initiative, which has already led hundreds of D-FW residents to interact directly with\u00a0The News, can be scaled to help the paper interact with \u201ctens of thousands\u201d of readers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The News will host two panels this week at SMU. Reporters on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/article\/panel-discussion-sports-business-north-texas-22299603.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sports-business panel<\/a> will talk all things Mavericks, Stars and FIFA World Cup at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
