Coached by Fran Curci, they were led by Derrick Ramsey, Art Still and Jerry Blanton, steamrolling through the league before shutting out North Carolina 21-0 to win the Peach Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to 2026, where that legendary team is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Lexington \u2014 and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/coach\/will-stein-177513\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Stein<\/a><\/strong> is making sure the world knows it entering his debut campaign with the Wildcats.<\/p>\n<p>He hung out with Ramsey, Still and Blanton at the UK facilities this week and shared a photo on social media afterward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat seeing (UK Football) LEGENDS Jerry Blanton, Derrick Ramsey, and Art Still today,\u201d Stein wrote Friday. \u201c1976 SEC Champions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, the Kentucky football program shared its promo season schedule with themed games every week, including white-outs, blue-outs, black-outs and more \u2014 they\u2019re even doing a stripe-out. Among them? A \u201cthrowback game\u201d against LSU on October 10, where the Wildcats are rumored to bring back the legendary Power K helmets and uniforms.<\/p>\n<p>The same Power K helmets and uniforms that 1976 squad wore in its push for the SEC title\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"795\" height=\"417\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-181.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4626191\"\/>UK Athletics<\/p>\n<p>It ain\u2019t a coincidence, folks! <\/p>\n<p>Expect to see the \u201976 squad around more often in the coming months, but especially on October 10 at Kroger Field.
