U.S. stock futures advanced early on Tuesday after the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose to a fresh record close.<\/p>\n
Dow futures<\/a> rose by 45 points, or 0.1%. S&P 500 futures<\/a> and Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a> added 0.1% and 0.3%, respectively.<\/p>\n Stocks rallied in Monday’s regular session, as a pause in hostilities<\/a> between the U.S. and Iran lifted sentiment. The S&P 500<\/a> rose 1.18%, while the Nasdaq Composite<\/a> gained 2.07%.<\/p>\n The Dow<\/a> jumped 306.63 points, or 0.59%, to close at a fresh record above the 52,000 level for the first time ever on Monday. The blue-chip index was boosted by a nearly 5% gain in Alphabet<\/a> during the “Magnificent Seven” giant’s first trading session as a Dow member.<\/p>\n On Sunday, the U.S. and Iran agreed to halt their attacks<\/a> and allow commercial vessels to pass through the key Strait of Hormuz waterway. A U.S. official told CNBC on Sunday that “both sides will stand down for now and vessels can move freely.”<\/p>\n Across the Atlantic, European stocks followed their U.S. counterparts higher on Tuesday morning, with the regional Stoxx 600 adding 0.6%. Tech stocks were among those making the biggest gains, with semiconductor shares rising in early trading. ASML<\/a> and ASMI<\/a> gained 3.3% and 1.3%, respectively, while Be Semiconductor<\/a> shares rose by more than 2%. <\/strong><\/p>\n Asia-Pacific markets were mixed in afternoon trade, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight. Japan’s Nikkei 225<\/a>\u00a0added 0.86% to close at 70,062.32. South Korea’s Kospi<\/a> gained 0.97%, buoyed by the government’s plans<\/a> for a massive AI investment drive and a 3.4% gain in Samsung<\/a> stock. <\/p>\n In a note on Tuesday morning, strategists at UBS said that, despite an optimistic start to the week, concerns over the sustainability of AI capex growth remain. <\/p>\n “We believe that exposure to AI-related stocks will remain a key differentiator for equity market performance over the long run, but we also believe diversification, both within and beyond AI, is essential,” they wrote. “This means that investors can consider more defensive areas within the AI complex, such as data center operators and select payment companies, as well as other structural trends.”<\/p>\n Outside of equities, oil prices fell on Tuesday amid hopes of a definite end to the U.S.-Iran war, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Global benchmark Brent crude futures<\/a> were last seen trading about 0.9% lower at $72.53 a barrel. <\/p>\n Spot gold<\/a> was 0.1% higher at $4,043 an ounce, and the U.S. dollar index<\/a> was 0.2% higher at 101.261. <\/p>\n On Tuesday morning, traders will also watch out for May’s JOLTS job openings reading, alongside the latest data from June’s Chicago PMI and consumer confidence indexes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Traders work at the New York Stock Exchange on June 29, 2026.
