Portnoy\u2019s disdain for Mamdani has only gotten more apparent in recent months and weeks. Now, it sounds like Portnoy is considering doing something about it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During a recent interview on Fox News, Portnoy revealed that he is considering stepping into politics and challenging Mamdani, saying that he feels like he can \u201cmake a change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Portnoy vs. Mamdani<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Over the past several months, Portnoy has made no secret about how he feels about Mamdani, even threatening to move the Barstool Sports offices from New York City to New Jersey once he took office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cHonestly, I\u2019ve given that a lot of thought \u2014 he\u2019s definitely going to win \u2014 going to Hoboken or Jersey City or something,\u201d Portnoy said <a href=\"https:\/\/awfulannouncing.com\/barstool\/dave-portnoy-out-nyc-zohran-mamdani-wins-mayor.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:back in November;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;back in November&quot;}\" class=\"link \">back in November<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t want to [freaking] have an office (in Manhattan). But then we have all those people who, like, that [messes] up their life because I hate the guy \u2026 so it\u2019s a Catch-22.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Portnoy made it clear that it was more about a \u201cprincipled stand,\u201d claiming that Mamdani \u201chates America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI can\u2019t stand the thought of (Mamdani) running New York City. I can\u2019t stand it,\u201d Portnoy said during a stream. \u201cThen a part of me is like, how much will actually change? But I really have given it thought. I told our finance guys to start looking around for property, no joke. Take a principled stand. Thirty-something-year-old Communist running New York City who\u2019s never had a job in his life, hates America, doesn\u2019t seem like the best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Portnoy became even more outspoken against Mamdani throughout the New York Knicks\u2019 2026 NBA Finals run, <a href=\"https:\/\/thecomeback.com\/nba\/dave-portnoy-criticize-zohran-mamdani-new-york-knicks.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:criticizing his speech;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;criticizing his speech&quot;}\" class=\"link \">criticizing his speech<\/a> at the team\u2019s victory celebration. Then, last week, he claimed that Mamdani and the other Democratic Socialists in the city were trying to turn New York <a href=\"https:\/\/thecomeback.com\/politics\/dave-portnoy-does-not-hold-back-on-zohran-mamdani.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:into an \u201canti-American city.\u201d;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;into an \u201canti-American city.\u201d&quot;}\" class=\"link \">into an \u201canti-American city.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Now, it sounds like Portnoy might challenge them directly.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I Would Love to Run\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During a recent interview with Jesse Waters on Fox News, Portnoy opened up a bit more about his disdain for Mamdani and the other Democratic Socialists in the city as he revealed that he is at least considering a run at politics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI\u2019ve always thought I would never get involved in politics,\u201d Portnoy said on the show. \u201cThis, and what is going on, has actually made me pause that thought.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Portnoy called it a \u201cscary time,\u201d without elaborating, saying \u201cwe need leaders to step up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cSometimes I do feel like it\u2019s my duty. I can\u2019t turn away,\u201d Portnoy said. \u201cI feel like I could make a change. Maybe I do run in politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cLet me say this. I spend a lot of my day losing my mind at what\u2019s happening right now, especially in New York,\u201d Portnoy said. \u201cThis really, really, really worries me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Portnoy did not lay out any specific concerns with Mamdani. However, he did say that he would \u201clove to\u201d run against him in an election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI would love to run against [Mamdani],\u201d Portnoy said. \u201cIf I was gonna run, it would be here. Can I win here? I have no idea. I don\u2019t know the demographics, whether I can get enough votes. There\u2019s a lot of people who like me in New York City. I\u2019ve done a lot of good in New York City when I wasn\u2019t thinking about politics \u2013 whether that\u2019s the Barstool fund, pizza places.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt wasn\u2019t for show,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019ve had a real job, I\u2019ve done real things, unlike these clown politicians who have never had a job and never been in the real world for a day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Portnoy then seemed to acknowledge that he probably would not have support amongst New York City voters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cBut the people voting for these people who just won are like these young, white Ivy League-ish elite-ish\u2026\u201d Portnoy said. \u201cLike, who are they? They\u2019ll never vote for me.
