Lots of jewelry stores use similar names, including New York’s Lulu Rose Couture and Indonesia’s Loulou Rose. And of course, it’s not that far off from the infamous leggings brand-slash-cult LuLaRoe.This company, however, doesn’t plan to stuff your closets with unsold spandex.

A company bio says the jeweler was “born from a bond that goes beyond generations — a mother and daughter’s shared love for beauty, meaning, and legacy.” While the marketing copy may make folks wonder if the pair is Kris and Kourtney or Judy and Liza, an Instagram profile clarifies at least one of the entrepreneurs is Sabrina Gonzalez.

Blessedly, Gonzalez’s pieces buck the trend of whisper-thin trinkets that brands like Catbird and Satomi Kawakita wrought. While not quite Saad’s, Lulurose’s necklaces have some oomph through colorful stones and chunkier chains. There’s a playful edge, too, with nameplate necklaces that Carrie Bradshaw would die for.

Many of the pieces feature charms or pendants ranging from diamond-encrusted bubble letters to an abstract Elsa Peretti-like stone obloid. Many of the featured designs nod to the Catholic faith, like a rosary-like bracelet featuring a cross and a medallion.

Although Lulurose’s social media says the San Antonio store is coming soon, it has not released an opening timeframe. A recent Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing says the 1,500-square-foot shop is set to wrap up construction in early December, but the timeline is subject to change.

An Eagle Pass jeweler is planning to add some sparkle to San Antonio’s La Cantera area.
