(WNYT) \u2013 President Donald Trump is proposing to increase tariffs on Canadian goods. However, new data from U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer shows that if the tariffs go up, tourism will go down.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer, a Democrat, said Canadian border crossings continue to plummet as the president threatens to further increase tariffs next week to 35%.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism from Canada to the United States is down nearly 15%, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.<\/p>\n<p>NewsChannel 13 had checked in with hotels in the area, and they told us they were seeing cancellations this year. We\u2019ve now reached out to Lake George tourism officials.
