The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a report warning that nearly a million bottles of medication\u2014at least 944,142, to be exact\u2014have been recalled nationwide. The affected drugs include Corlanor, a medication prescribed to treat chronic heart failure, and Sensipar, a drug used to treat chronic kidney disease, among other conditions\u2014two brand-name prescription medications made by the biotech company Amgen.<\/p>\n
According to the FDA report, the Corlanor bottles were recalled due to the \u201cpresence of a foreign substance,\u201d while the Sensipar bottles were recalled due to deviations from the FDA\u2019s Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulations, which are used to ensure quality and safety. Both the Corlanor and Sensipar recalls are classified as Class II, which the FDA defines as \u201ca situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.\u201d<\/p>\n
