\n\tJosh Gad is the latest to join Margot Robbie<\/a> and Bradley Cooper<\/a>\u2018s crew for their forthcoming \u201cOcean\u2019s 11\u201d prequel at Warner Bros, sources told Variety. <\/p>\n

\n\tGad has booked a significant role in the period heist film, the sources added, and joins a starry ensemble led by Robbie and her director-costar Cooper. Casting has been coming at a steady clip as the film heads toward production. Reps for Gad and Warner Bros. Pictures did not immediately respond to Variety\u2018s request for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tSince the original 1960 film, \u201cOcean\u2019s 11\u201d \u2014 which starred Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Dean Martin \u2014 the high-class heist movie franchise has attracted A-list and award-winning talent. Warners\u2019 latest installment is no exception, with Oscar nominees Wagner Moura<\/a> (\u201cThe Secret Agent\u201d), who is set to play the villain, and Monica Barbaro (\u201cA Complete Unknown\u201d) also signing on to the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tGad adds the \u201cOceans\u201d prequel to a schedule that includes the anticipated \u201cSpace Balls: The New One\u201d from Paramount Pictures, sequels to the animated franchises \u201cAngry Birds\u201d and \u201cFrozen,\u201d and the feature adaptation of \u201cOh, The Places You Will Go\u201d with Ariana Grande. He also recently re-upped his overall TV deal with 20th Century Television. <\/p>\n

\n\tDetails about the \u201cOcean\u2019s\u201d prequel film have been scarce, but Robbie confirmed a few key points during the studio\u2019s CinemaCon presentation this spring.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBefore Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows \u2014 his parents,\u201d Robbie teased, referencing the con-man and ringleader of the Las Vegas casino caper in \u201cOcean\u2019s 11.\u201d \u201cYou\u2019ll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFurther plot details are \u201clocked in the vault,\u201d but Cooper wrote the screenplay and is directing the film, dated for release on June 25, 2027. He is also producing the project alongside LuckyChap, the company led by Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Milan Popelka and Robbie.<\/p>\n

\n\tExecutive producers for the \u201cOcean\u2019s\u201d prequel include McNamara, Bronte Payne, Bobby Wilhelm, Jay Roach, Michelle Graham, Lee Isaac Chung, Ashley Jay Sandberg, Gary Ross and Olivia Milch. The untitled film is based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell. Carrie Solomon handled previous drafts of the screenplay.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Steven Soderbergh-directed \u201cOcean\u2019s Eleven\u201d trilogy, starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, plus the \u201cOcean\u2019s Eight\u201d reboot with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Rihanna, have earned more than $1.4 billion at the global box office.<\/p>\n
