Christopher Sadowski<\/p>\n<p>Hodges allegedly sent in a \u201creaffirmation of income\u201d form on July 2, 2021, attesting that a \u201ctenant income certification\u201d form she had previously submitted to the company \u2014 an agent for the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal \u2014 was authentic, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation revealed that her reaffirmation was \u201cmaterially false\u201d and that Hodges allegedly submitted fraudulent bank records, pay stubs, and an employment verification letter to secure her new digs, the DOI said in a press release. <\/p>\n<p>Hodges contacted another alleged fraudster, Rodney Billings, via email about how to obtain the fake records, then paid him for them, prosecutors alleged.<\/p>\n<p>Billings, of the Bronx, was hit with a slew of charges last June for allegedly creating and selling forged financial documents to two people, including an undercover DOI investigator posing as a customer.<\/p>\n<p>His bust prompted an investigation into Hodges, officials said.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.46494993;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39864605\" width=\"864\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/general-view-affordable-housing-spelled-126020235.jpg\" alt=\"Scrabble tiles spell out &quot;AFFORDABLE HOUSING&quot; next to a house keychain and key.\" class=\"wp-image-39864605\"  \/>Hodges allegedly contacted another alleged fraudster, Rodney Billings, via email about how to obtain the fake records, then paid him for them. Affordable housing is a scarce resource that is compromised when it is exploited by fraud,\u201d Nadia I. Shihata, the Commissioner of the DOI, said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am committed to protecting the integrity of affordable housing and ensuring that this resource is available to those who qualify for it. I thank District Attorney Gonzalez for his partnership in this important work,\u201d Shihata said. <\/p>\n<p>Hodges was arraigned on Wednesday and released without bail.
